Store Manager

Position Overview:

The Store Manager will be responsible for the efficient management of project materials, including MS and DI pipes, GI fittings, valves, steel, cement, and other construction supplies. The role entails overseeing material receipt, storage, and issuance, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring the smooth flow of materials to meet project deadlines. Coordination with procurement, site teams, and contractors is a key aspect of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Inventory Management

• Oversee the storage and management of all project materials, including MS and DI pipes, steel, cement, GI fittings, valves, and other construction materials.
• Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management software or manual systems.
• Regularly audit stock to ensure accuracy and reconcile any discrepancies.
• Ensure proper stacking, labeling, and categorization of materials for easy retrieval and safety.

2. Material Receipt and Inspection

• Verify materials received against purchase orders, including steel, cement, and project-specific items.
• Conduct quality checks on incoming materials and document damages or shortages.
• Prepare Goods Receipt Notes (GRN) and other required documentation for all received materials.

3. Material Issuance

• Coordinate with site teams for timely issuance of materials based on work requirements.
• Maintain detailed records of issued materials, including steel and cement quantities, with proper approvals.
• Monitor material usage on-site and report wastage or misuse.

4. Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain up-to-date records of material receipts, issues, and stock balances.
• Generate daily, weekly, and monthly stock reports, highlighting key metrics like consumption rates and balances.
• Ensure all documentation is audit-ready and compliant with company and regulatory standards.

5. Coordination with Teams

• Work closely with the procurement team to ensure timely delivery of materials, especially critical items like steel and cement.
• Liaise with site engineers to prioritize material issuance based on project schedules and requirements.
• Communicate with contractors and suppliers regarding material returns, replacements, or shortages.

6. Store Maintenance and Safety

• Ensure the store is well-organized, clean, and secure at all times.
• Implement safety protocols for handling and storing heavy or hazardous materials such as steel and cement.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure materials are stored safely and in compliance with guidelines.

7. Stock Optimization

• Monitor stock levels of critical materials like steel, cement, pipes, and fittings to prevent shortages or overstocking.
• Suggest procurement schedules based on usage trends and project timelines.
• Identify and manage slow-moving or obsolete inventory to optimize store efficiency.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

Educational Background:

• Diploma or Bachelors degree in Inventory Management, Logistics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Certification in warehouse or inventory management is an added advantage.

Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in store or inventory management, preferably in infrastructure or construction projects.
• Hands-on experience with materials such as MS and DI pipes, steel, cement, GI fittings, valves, and construction materials.

Skills:

• Proficiency in inventory management software (e.g., Tally, ERP, or SAP) and advanced MS Excel skills.
• Strong knowledge of inventory control processes and material handling standards.
• Expertise in managing heavy materials like steel and cement, including storage and safety protocols.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills for handling high-volume materials.
