Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Bakery Chef to lead our bakery operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing daily bakery production, ensuring the highest quality of baked goods, maintaining food safety standards, and leading a team of bakers. The Bakery Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef to develop new products, maintain consistency, and optimize production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Management:
Oversee the daily production of all bakery items including breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, and other baked goods.
Ensure consistent quality and presentation across all products.
Supervise and manage the workflow to ensure timely delivery of orders.
Recipe Development & Consistency:
Assist in the creation and testing of new recipes and products to enhance the bakery's offerings.
Maintain and refine recipes to ensure consistency in taste, texture, and appearance.
Provide input on menu items and seasonal product variations.
Team Leadership:
Lead, train, and motivate a team of bakers, pastry chefs, and assistants.
Allocate tasks effectively and monitor staff performance, ensuring adherence to standards and procedures.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment to enhance productivity and morale.
Inventory & Supplies Management:
Monitor stock levels and coordinate with the purchasing team for timely ordering of ingredients and supplies.
Implement inventory control measures to minimize waste and ensure cost efficiency.
Maintain records of production, inventory, and wastage.
Quality & Food Safety:
Ensure all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards are maintained throughout the production process.
Conduct regular quality checks on raw ingredients and finished products.
Ensure that all the equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition.
Cost Control & Budget Management:
Monitor ingredient usage and production costs to ensure adherence to budgeted targets.
Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining product quality.
Assist in pricing and costing of products for profitability.
Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement:
Optimize production processes for efficiency and quality improvement.
Monitor workflow and adjust as needed to improve operations.
Assist in implementing new equipment or techniques to enhance production.
Qualifications & Skills:
Proven experience (10+ years) as a Bakery Chef or similar role in a bakery factory or commercial bakery.
Strong understanding of baking techniques, dough management, and pastry production.
Leadership skills with the ability to manage and train a diverse team.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Culinary degree or certification in baking and pastry arts preferred.
