Job Description

UI Development Practice Head/Lead Role Summary: As the UI Development Practice Head/Lead, you will oversee and guide a team of UI developers specializing in front-end technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and frameworks like Angular and React. This role balances technical leadership, resource management, and strategic planning to drive team excellence and client satisfaction. Reporting to the Global Director of UX, UI Development, and CXA, you will contribute to long-term practice growth, innovation, and team development. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership (30%) Develop and implement strategies to scale the UI practice in alignment with organizational goals and industry trends. Innovate and refine processes to improve design, development, and delivery efficiency. Guide framework selection, emerging technology adoption, and front-end architecture decisions. Resource and Team Management (40%) Manage a team of 4 line managers, each overseeing up to 5 developers (total 20-30 individuals). Oversee resource allocation, quality assurance, training, and future resource planning. Mentor team members to enhance technical and leadership skills. Build succession plans and career pathways for team development. Building the Practice (20%) Create reusable tools and architectures to enhance development efficiency. Act as a change agent, advancing design and development methodologies. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (UX, design, QA, business) to deliver cohesive solutions. Hands-On Technical Contribution (10%) Provide technical expertise throughout project lifecycles, including concept development, solution design, and optimization. Create production-optimized code using performance best practices (e.g., minification, tree-shaking, image compression). Advise clients on front-end strategy and architecture, ensuring alignment with business goals. Client Engagement Act as a key interface for client architects and senior developers to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Ensure high client satisfaction and retention through proactive technical and management solutions. Performance and Metrics Assess performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and recommend actionable solutions. Track and achieve KPIs, including project timelines, client satisfaction (NPS), and technical innovation. Required Skills and Experience: 1. Leadership and Management: o 2-5 years of experience leading teams of 20-30 members. o Proven resource management and motivational leadership capabilities. 2. Technical Expertise: o Mastery of front-end technologies: JavaScript (including frameworks like React, Angular, Vue), HTML, CSS (including preprocessors like Sass), and accessibility best practices. o Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and source control systems (Git, SVN). o Proficiency in testing frameworks (Jest, Jasmine) and automation tools (ESLint, JSLint). 3. Strategic and Analytical Thinking: o Strong ability to plan, estimate, and execute complex software projects. o Proficient in analyzing performance metrics and implementing improvements. 4. Collaboration and Communication: o Proven ability to work across disciplines (design, business, QA, UX). o Strong client-facing skills, including advising on emerging technologies. 5. Educational Background: o 10+ years in web and mobile technologies, with 2-5 years in a leadership role. o Degree in Computer Science, Web Technologies, Human Interaction Design, or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in eCommerce or similar industries. Expertise in mentoring and developing high-potential employees. Familiarity with planning and managing long-term practice growth. Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly manage 4 line managers, with a total team size of up to 30 developers. Collaborate with other practice leads to align organizational strategies. Key Metrics for Success: Delivery of projects on time and within scope. Client satisfaction and retention rates. Team engagement and development scores. Innovation and adoption of cutting-edge technologies. .
