OpenShift Migration Consultant

We are seeking a Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization Migration Consultant to lead the design, planning, and execution of virtualization migrations onto Red Hat OpenShift. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with Red Hat OpenShift, virtualization technologies, and migration strategies, as well as strong problem-solving skills to ensure a seamless transition for virtualized workloads into a OpenShift environment.

You will:

• Design and define migration strategies for moving virtualized workloads from legacy environments (such as VMware, KVM) to OpenShift Virtualization.
• Develop roadmaps and project plans for large-scale migration efforts, ensuring minimal disruption to operational workloads.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify migration requirements, objectives, and constraints.
• Lead hands-on migration activities, including workload assessment, dependency mapping, and migration execution.
• Develop scripts, templates, and automation to streamline migration workflows, optimizing the speed and reliability of migrations.
• Set up and configure OpenShift Virtualization, ensuring integration with existing IT infrastructure and applications.
• Perform performance tuning and optimization for workloads migrated into OpenShift Virtualization to ensure scalability and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered during and after migrations, identifying root causes and implementing fixes.
• Ensure that migrated workloads adhere to security and compliance standards.
• Document migration processes, architectural decisions, and configurations for future reference and scalability.
• Develop training materials and provide hands-on training to IT teams on managing and maintaining migrated workloads in OpenShift.

Essential Requirements

• Design and define migration strategies using Red Hat s Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV) to move virtualized workloads from environments such as VMware, KVM, or Hyper-V to OpenShift Virtualization.
• Extensive experience with Red Hat OpenShift (OCP), Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV), and OpenShift Virtualization.
• Strong background in virtualization technologies (e. g. , VMware, KVM, Hyper-V) and experience with virtualization-to-container migration strategies.
• Hands-on experience in Linux systems administration, network configuration, and storage management.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and container orchestration.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Ansible and Terraform.
• Previous experience in IT Transformation Consulting, at least 15+ years directly related work experience in the Information Technology field and 8+ years of relevant experience is expected.
• Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field. Masters degree preferred.
• Strong experience with Red Hat OpenShift (OCP) and Kubernetes ecosystem.
• In-depth knowledge of Linux systems administration and networking.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Argo CD, or GitLab CI.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), especially with tools like Ansible and Terraform
• Sound understanding of Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) concepts and implementations.
• Experience with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid/multi-cloud architecture.
• Understanding of DevOps practices and principles, including containerization, automation, and monitoring tools.
• Ability to work independently and work collaboratively in a team environment.
• An active listener with excellent communications and interpersonal skills with an ability to read complex customer situations and adapt as needed.
• Deep understanding of deployment, management and administration of Industry top IT Automation and Orchestration tools
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and internal teams.
• Experience with PowerShell and Bash scripting is a plus.
• Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift or relevant Red Hat certifications.
• VMware certifications such as VCP, VCAP, or VCIX are highly desirable.
• Experience with scripting and automation tools (e. g. , PowerShell, Python) is suitable.
• Experience in Datacenter migration using various methods (ex. P2V, V2V) and tools.
