Civil Planning Engineer

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Planning Engineer to join our team in the Oil & Gas industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the planning, scheduling, and coordination of civil engineering activities for oil and gas infrastructure projects, ensuring that all works are completed in a timely, cost-effective, and safe manner. The Civil Planning Engineer will work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure project objectives are met and delivered successfully.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop detailed project schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), and progress tracking systems for civil engineering activities in line with overall project timelines.
• Resource Management: Coordinate with relevant teams and departments to ensure proper allocation of resources, equipment, and materials, ensuring timely delivery.
• Risk Management: Identify potential risks and issues related to civil works and propose mitigation strategies to avoid delays or cost overruns.
• Progress Monitoring: Track project milestones and provide regular progress reports to project managers and stakeholders, identifying potential delays and proposing corrective actions.
• Budget Control: Work closely with the finance department to develop and monitor budgets for civil works, ensuring projects stay within financial constraints.
• Collaboration: Coordinate with project engineers, procurement teams, and contractors to ensure smooth execution of civil engineering works.
• Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate reports, schedules, and documentation related to civil planning activities.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Contractor Coordination: Manage relationships with subcontractors and ensure their work is aligned with the project schedule and quality requirements.
• Project Closeout: Support project closeout procedures, including final documentation and reporting for civil engineering aspects of the project.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Diploma in Civil. A Masters degree or additional certifications in project management (PMP, CPM) is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil planning or project management within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Software Proficiency: Strong knowledge of planning and scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar software.
• Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of civil engineering principles, oil & gas construction practices, and project lifecycle management.
• Project Management: Experience in developing and managing project plans, scheduling, and resource allocation for large-scale construction projects.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex information to clients and stakeholders.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to managing issues and delays.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to meticulously track and report on project progress, identifying any deviations or potential risks early.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with oil & gas infrastructure projects (e.g., pipelines, refineries, offshore/onshore facilities).
• Experience with international or large-scale projects.
• Ability to work in remote or challenging environments.

Work Environment:

• Field-based and office-based work, with the possibility of travel to project sites ( Nigeria) depending on the location and project requirements.
• Occasional extended working hours, especially during critical project phases.
