Job Description

Job Purpose

In conjunction with the Global Compliance Officer, to work on the continuous improvement of the Groups Compliance Framework. To provide commercial solutions to complex regulatory issues and to help increase Governance across the organisation.

Reporting To - Global Compliance Officer (GCO)

Other Key Relationship - Chief Legal Officer and Legal Team, Functional and Regional leads, School Principals, Internal Audit Team

Key Result Area

Engagement and Interaction

  • Assist in the creation and implementation, in coordination with management, of a risk based annual Compliance Plan each year.
  • Ensure continued compliance with Company policies, including monitoring and remediation of audit issues as well as pro-active communications on key Legal and Compliance Issues.
  • Develop and conduct business friendly training across the organisation focused on legal and compliance issues that affect the organisation. Including, Anti-Bribery, Data Privacy, Code of Conduct and Legal Contracts.
  • Assist in the oversight of the organisations Whistle-blower hotline, ensure issues are appropriately investigated, recorded and remediation items followed up timely.
  • Implementing new compliance initiatives and working with management to continually improve existing compliance risk management and governance practices;
  • Perform pre-acquisition due diligence reviews on high risk acquisitions and perform post-completion Compliance audits in conjunction with the Internal Audit team on key risks to the organisation.
  • Continued development of Groups Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework and driving operating efficiencies whilst minising risk exposure across the Group.
  • Measurement Of Performance
  • The Annual Compliance Plan is executed.
  • Continual improvement in compliance measures; and
  • The Compliance Log is complete and up to date.

Functional Expertise

  • Knowledge of GDPR and Data protection laws, assist in the groups data privacy compliance framework and provide guidance and instructions to the organisational Data Protection Officers across our European Schools.
  • Thorough understanding in relation to Anti-Bribery and Corruption laws including investigations and controls.
  • Act as the groups lead for insurance and insurance claims in conjunction with external broker.
  • Group policies and procedures reflect current regulatory environment.
  • Investigations are handled and remediated in a timely manner.
  • Insurance claims are notified promptly and programme addresses key risks.

Operational Expertise

  • Experience of co-ordinating regular Compliance reports for senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of providing business friendly training and rolling out tailored training programmes.
  • Demonstrable experience in influencing key internal stakeholders.
  • Production of timely and well received reports.

  • Compliance experience in an international organisation. - Essential
  • Formal Compliance Qualifications - Highly Desirable
  • Significant knowledge and experience of working with international laws
  • Experience of working with Senior Management teams - Essential
  • Developing and implementing legal compliance plans - Essential
  • Experience in a Globally Dispersed Organisation - Highly Desirable
  • Experience in data privacy, anti-corruption, sanctions and child protection laws - Highly Desirable
  • Real Estate and Construction - Desirable
  • Insurance - Desirable
  • Litigation - Desirable
