Job Description

As a ML Engineer at PayPal s Global Data Science organization, you will have an impact on PayPal s Merchant and Consumer products all around the world. Our data scientists work to better understand our end-users, identify opportunities and improve our products by creating personal and smart experiences. Making use of PayPal s endless amount of data, you will leverage your data and machine learning skills, for research and delivery of end-to-end Data Science solutions

Creating horizontal ML, DL and LLM based horizontal solutions for vertical teams

Keep up to date with State-Of-The-Art (SOTA) advancements in Artificial Intelligence and understand how they can be applied to solve business challenges.

Your day to day

Design and develop highly scalable and efficient solutions that enables data scientists to build, and deploy machine learning solutions end-to-end

Drive innovation by researching and incorporating state-of-the-art machine learning techniques, tools, and frameworks into the platform.

Working across product, engineering and data scientists teams to understand, create and deliver the horizontal solutions

Explore state-of-the-art deep learning techniques and Partner with data science and domain engineering teams to support the business transformation through AI.

What do you need to bring

Minimum experience: Minimum 4+ years of experience OR Masters degree with 2+ years of experience, or PhD e as a ML Research Scientist or in a similar role. BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical discipline (or equivalent). First-author publications in top conferences are a plus.

Machine Learning Expertise: Strong understanding of various machine learning methods. Deep knowledge in traditional machine learning, deep learning, NLP/LLM, Graph or other relevant topics. Hands-on experience and solid knowledge of machine learning frameworks such as Keras , TensorFlow, and PyTorch , as well as MLOps platforms.

Technical Skills: Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms. Familiar with object-oriented design methodology and application development in Python.

Big Data Technologies: Familiarity with Big Data-related technologies to manage large volumes of complex data, such as PySpark , and BigQuery .

Team Collaboration: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Fluent in English.

Problem Solving and Creativity: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively. Ability to think outside the box and approach challenges with innovative solutions.

Learning and Research: Passionate about learning state-of-the-art machine learning frameworks and algorithms from both academic and industry sources, with a habit of reading relevant research papers and a willingness to explore new areas.
