We are looking for a passionate and driven Engineering Leader to join our Credit organization. In this unique dual-leadership role, youll lead both our Quality and Tools teams, driving innovation and excellence across our entire credit product portfolio.

What youll do:

As Quality Leader:

Lead quality initiatives for our Global Merchant Lending organization.

Define and execute a comprehensive quality and automation strategy.

Manage the quality roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals.

Partner with development teams to integrate quality into the software development lifecycle.

As Tools Leader:

Define the vision and roadmap for our Credit tools team.

Identify and implement cutting-edge testing tools and technologies to enhance our testing capabilities.

Stay abreast of the latest advancements in quality engineering, including AI/ML and emerging technologies.

Mentor and guide software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.

Meet our team:

We are part of the Financial Services - Credit organization, where we build and deliver a diverse range of products, including Buy Now, Pay Later, Credit Card/Line of Credit, and Merchant Credit products across multiple countries. Our team is responsible for ensuring that we deliver high-quality products to our customers. This position is for an Engineering manager in Credit Quality team.

• Manage a team of test engineers providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring to ensure high-quality deliverables and career growth opportunities.
• Collaborate with product, design and other cross functional teams to drive the testing and launch of new products and features.
• Care deeply about code quality, bringing an enthusiasm for using the best practices of scalability, accessibility, maintenance, observability, automation testing strategies, and documentation into everyday development.
• Lead and participate in technical, design, and product discussions with leaders across the organization to drive right decision-making for the long term.
• Envision and execute a roadmap for the quality tools team.

• Lead and mentor a team of talented engineers, fostering their growth and guiding their contributions.
• Develop efficient processes, ensuring the test engineering team is operating with high velocity and always look for opportunities to continuously improve and become better every day.
• Partner with engineering managers to define and promote quality strategies t hat enable improving overall product health.
• Advocate for best practices in code quality, documentation, and overall engineering excellence

• 10 + years of experience in the software industry, with 5 + years of professional experience leading software development teams.
• Advanced knowledge in software architecture from at least one of: mobile app development, web applications and/or Node or Java backends
• Experience in software lifecycle including release planning, time estimates, release processes, software testing, incident- and issue management, monitoring & alerting and related.
• E xperience in Agile development (and agile frameworks like Scrum and Kanban) and commonly used tools like Jira and GitHub.
• Demonstrated self-motivation and self-direction connected with a passion for excellence in product and people.
• Exceptional communication skills and experience balancing diverse priorities in a fair and transparent manner. Ability to navigate difficult conversations, both on your team and with stakeholder teams
• A history of orienting teams and setting strategy toward quality engineering goals, with a bias toward impact and velocity
• A passion for improving developer productivity and a commitment to creating a positive and inclusive engineering culture.
• Experience managing complex systems, with the pattern recognition to make high-level architectural decisions and the ability to weigh in on implementation questions.
• Experience turning strategies and plans into reality, partnering with product and design to scope, plan and prioritize work and a commitment to continuous improvement (yourself, your teammates, our software)
• An eye for design or an ear for the customer; engineering makes substantive contributions to product definition. Strong empathy for consumers and merchants that PayPal serves and an interest in building products that better serve them.
