Job Description

Lead the design, specification, and selection of instrumentation systems for oil and gas projects, ensuring system integrity, safety, and compliance with industry standards.

Develop and review P&IDs, loop diagrams, and instrument data sheets for oil and gas processes.

Identify and implement new technologies, ensuring the optimal integration of automation, measurement, and control systems.

Develop detailed technical documentation, specifications, and procurement packages for instrumentation equipment.

Installation & Commissioning:

Supervise the installation and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems across oil & gas facilities, ensuring smooth integration with process systems.

Provide technical leadership in the installation of safety and control systems such as emergency shutdown systems (ESD), fire and gas detection, and leak detection systems.

Conduct performance testing, troubleshooting, and system calibration to guarantee operational accuracy and reliability.

Maintenance & Optimization:

Manage the maintenance and optimization of process instrumentation and control systems to maximize uptime and reduce equipment failures in critical oil and gas operations.

Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostics of instrumentation systems, focusing on both routine and emergency repairs.

Implement predictive and preventive maintenance strategies to improve equipment longevity and process efficiency.

Compliance & Safety:

Ensure all instrumentation and control systems comply with relevant international and local safety regulations (e.g., IEC 61508, IEC 61511, API standards).

Actively contribute to safety reviews, risk assessments (HAZOP, SIL), and ensuring compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental standards in the oil and gas sector.

Develop and implement instrumentation integrity management plans to prevent incidents.

Project Management & Coordination:

Lead and manage multiple instrumentation engineering projects from concept through to execution in oil & gas facilities, ensuring adherence to project schedules and budgets.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, mechanical, process engineers) and contractors to ensure successful project delivery.

Provide technical support and mentoring to junior engineers and site-based technicians, ensuring quality control and knowledge transfer.

Operational Support:

Provide ongoing technical support to operations teams to ensure the optimal performance of instrumentation systems.

Troubleshoot and provide solutions for issues related to instrumentation, control systems, and automation in real-time operations.

Review operational data and recommend improvements or modifications to enhance system performance and reliability.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in Instrumentation Engineering , Electrical Engineering , Control Systems Engineering , or a related field.

Extensive experience with DCS , PLC , SCADA , and RTU systems, along with a solid understanding of process control loops and automation systems.
