Job Description
Orient Ship Management & Manning Pvt Ltd is looking for Application Form Deck Officers to join our dynamic team and embark on a rewarding career journey
- Deck officers, also known as ship officers or navigation officers, are responsible for the safe operation and navigation of vessels
- They play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of a ship and the safety of its crew, cargo, and passengers
- Key Responsibilities:Navigation and Watchkeeping:Plan and execute safe navigation of the vessel
- Maintain a continuous watch on the bridge, ensuring vigilance and adherence to watchkeeping standards
- Use radar, GPS, and other navigation equipment to avoid collisions and navigate safely
- Safety and Compliance:Ensure compliance with international and national maritime regulations
- Conduct safety drills and ensure that all safety equipment, such as lifeboats and fire-fighting equipment, is in good working order
- Implement and monitor the ship's safety management system
- Cargo Operations:Supervise the loading, stowing, securing, and unloading of cargo
- Ensure that cargo operations are performed safely and efficiently
- Maintain accurate cargo documentation and records
- Maintenance and Operations:Oversee the maintenance of deck equipment and machinery
- Coordinate and supervise deck crew activities
- Conduct regular inspections of the ship to ensure it is seaworthy and in good condition
- Communication and Reporting:Communicate with ports, shipping companies, and other ships
- Report any incidents, accidents, or safety hazards to the appropriate authorities
- Maintain logs and records of the ship's operations, activities, and incidents
