Sr. Director, Software Engineering

As the Sr Director of Software Engineering for OpenText Portfolio, you will be the advocate for driving innovation and excellence across multiple lines of business. You will lead a team of approximately 400 software engineering professionals, spread across multiple locations, to design, develop, and deliver cutting-edge, secure, and scalable solutions. This role is transformative and highly visible, requiring strong leadership, technical acumen, and the ability to inspire teams toward achieving strategic goals.

What The Role Offers

Strategic Leadership As a pivotal member of the Portfolio Leadership team, you will shape the long-term roadmap for our software engineering organization, focusing on growth, transformation, and innovation. You will partner with Sales, Renewals, Global / Regional Engineering leadership as well as India Leadership council.
Program Oversight Lead the direction of key programs, including governance, prioritization, and ROI assessment. Translate strategic direction into detailed program plans, coordinate their execution, and track progress against key milestones and KPIs.
Team Development Attract, retain, and mentor top engineering talent. Manage the team s performance, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to meet the budget and business goals.
Technical Leadership Provide guidance on architectural design and software development, ensuring high-quality, secure, and scalable solutions. Oversee the development of key engineering projects and product management, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
Collaboration Innovation Oversee product teams and collaborate with architecture, data analytics, and live operations teams to build next-generation solutions for our customers. Drive innovation by integrating emerging technologies like AI and machine learning into our product portfolio.
Thought Leadership Collaborate with marketing teams and upper management to establish importance of Portfolio offerings and gather support from the OpenText organization and ecosystem.
End-to-End Product Development Lead the complete development lifecycle, from collaborating with architects on design to partnering with product management on vision and requirements, and driving agile teams to deliver technical solutions that meet product goals.

What You Need to Succeed

Experience 15+ years of experience leading global engineering teams in a collaborative, matrixed environment.
Portfolio Expertise Deep knowledge of Portfolio principles, technologies, and best practices, with experience in areas like Enterprise Backup, Unified Endpoint Management, Document and Records Management, Email Collaboration and more.
Technical Skills Strong understanding of software development methodologies, agile practices, DevOps, and cloud-based SaaS product development. Experience with large-scale data systems and applied ML/AI is a plus.
Leadership Proven ability to lead and motivate software engineering teams, with a focus on strategic thinking, creativity, and innovation. Experience in managing complex, cross-functional initiatives and driving alignment across diverse teams.
Communication Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to business audiences and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Project Management Strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering successful outcomes in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
