Principal Quality Assurance Engineer

This position performs duties under general supervision, to apply quality assurance and testing concepts, policies, practices, processes and procedures to a range of projects, ensuring exhaustive testing to verify compliance with speci?cations. Those duties are generally associated with projects of medium to large scope and complexity.

What The Role Offers

• Contributing to the development of test strategies, plans and metrics to cover the testing lifecycle for unit, integration, regression, beta and user acceptance testing.

• Executing the testing deemed necessary in the test strategy and test plans, tracking testing metrics in accordance with policy and procedure. and escalating issues to the appropriate levels in the organization.

• Verifying all bug fixes, enhancements, documentation and all pre-requisites prior to promoting code to the change control process.
• Teaming with developers to see that all enhancements and bug ?xes are documented as required and all pre-requisites are completed prior to hand-o? into the change control process.
• Participating in post-project debriefs to analyze the e?ectiveness of the quality assurance and testing policies and practices.
• Completing the quality scorecard for accurate records of defects in the development phase, QA process and hand-o? to change control and production.
• Recommending and helping to implement continuous improvement to the testing process.
• Teaching and coaching development, quality assurance and support resources to enhance their approach to testing.
• Participating in special project teams for development or corporate initiatives.
• Using established methodologies and documented procedures to perform assigned tasks.
• Managing work to meet milestones in accordance with the project plan and keep management and project managers informed of issues and status.

What You Need To Succeed

• A Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced certifications in QA or software testing (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE) are advantageous.
• 8+ years in quality assurance and testing, including a solid understanding of the complete testing lifecycle (unit, integration, regression, beta, and UAT). Experience in test strategy development, execution, and creating comprehensive test cases.
• Proficiency with test automation tools (like Selenium, JUnit) and QA management tools (such as JIRA, HP ALM). Skilled in test data management and quality assurance environment setup, along with hands-on experience with change control processes.
• Proven ability to document, reproduce, prioritize, and resolve defects, working collaboratively with software engineering teams to drive issue resolution and code quality.
• Excellent communication skills to lead defect discussions, conduct requirement and design reviews, and mentor QA team members. Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and adapt to fast-paced, deadline-oriented projects.
• Commitment to refining and enhancing QA processes through post-project debriefs and implementation of best practices. Experience with Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
