Sr. Manager Estimation / Quantity Surveyor (Civil & Finishing Works)

Job description

The primary responsibility is to study and analyze construction drawings and extract detailed quantities of required materials and items to prepare accurate project budgets. This role involves preparing comprehensive cost estimates, monitoring project expenditures, and ensuring the project remains within budget constraints.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Quantity Take-off from CAD Drawings:
  
• Extract and quantify materials for civil and finishing works from CAD drawings.
• Calculate the quantities required for different construction activities (e.g., concrete, steel, masonry, finishes).
• Preparation of Construction Area from CAD Drawings:
  
• Analyze CAD drawings to define the construction area and ensure all relevant space areas are accounted for in the estimate.
• Detailed Estimate Preparation:
  
• Prepare a comprehensive estimate sheet for the entire structure, ensuring that it includes all specifications, amenities, services, parking facilities, landscaping, and interior design elements.
• Rough Cut Estimate for Concept-Level Projects:
  
• Generate preliminary cost estimates for conceptual projects based on available drawings and project scope.
• Rate Analysis:
  
• Conduct rate analysis for worked-out quantities using current market rates to ensure cost-effective estimations.
• Bar Bending Schedule (BBS):
  
• Prepare the Bar Bending Schedule as per the received structural drawings, detailing reinforcement requirements.
• Bill of Quantities (BOQ):
  
• Prepare a Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for the project, aligning it with the specifications and scope of work.
• Cost Optimization:
  
• Suggest and implement cost optimization strategies to ensure budget control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Variation Identification and Reporting:
  
• Identify any variations in the drawings and specifications and prepare a detailed variation report.
• MIS Reporting:
  
• Prepare Management Information System (MIS) reports that track project progress and cost-related activities.
• Budget Monitoring:
  
• Track and monitor the projects budget against actual work completed and provide regular reports on budget performance.
• Proficiency with SAP and ERP Software:
  
• Use SAP and ERP software to manage project data, costs, and progress effectively.
• Costing for Specific Work Packages:
  
• Prepare detailed costing for specialized packages like landscape works, civil works, interior works, etc.
• Excel Expertise:
  
• Demonstrate advanced skills in Excel, including linking multiple sheets and applying complex formulas for accurate and efficient cost tracking.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Educational Qualifications: A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
• Experience: Previous experience in quantity surveying, cost estimating, or project cost management in the construction industry.
• Software Proficiency: Familiarity with CAD software, SAP, ERP, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately extract and measure quantities from drawings and ensure the project remains within budget.
• Communication: Strong ability to communicate with team members, contractors, and clients to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate reporting.
• Cost Management: In-depth knowledge of cost estimation, budget control, and cost optimization techniques.
