Sybase Database Administrator (8-10 yrs)

Responsibilities :

- Manage the installation, configuration, maintenance, and security of Sybase databases across various environments.

- Implement and maintain System Replication Server (SRS) for high availability and disaster recovery.

- Perform regular database backups, restores, and recovery operations to ensure data integrity.

- Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving latency issues through effective troubleshooting.

- Utilize scripting languages (e.g , Bash, PowerShell) to automate routine database administration tasks.

- Write and maintain stored procedures, triggers, and complex SQL queries to optimize data access and manipulation.

- Apply security patches and maintain a strong security posture for the Sybase environment.

- Collaborate with developers and other IT professionals to ensure smooth database integration and application functionality.

- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Sybase technology and best practices.

- Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge transfer and maintainability.

Qualifications :

- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience as a Sybase Database Administrator or a similar role.

- In-depth knowledge of Sybase architecture, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and security.

- Proven experience with System Replication Server (SRS) for high availability and disaster recovery planning.

- Strong understanding of database backup and recovery procedures.

- Experience with performance tuning techniques to optimize database queries and improve response times.

- Proficiency in writing advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.

- Familiarity with scripting languages for database automation (Bash, PowerShell preferred).

- Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation.
