Product Development Manager

Role & responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end product development process, from concept ideation to commercialization, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
• Work closely with the engineering team to design, prototype, and test new data buoy systems, incorporating advanced sensors, communication technologies, and data analysis capabilities.

• Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement corrective actions to meet project milestones and deliverables.
• Assess feasibility of new product development and new R&D projects
• Lead new product development projects to support business goals in the field of oceanography research and projects
• Handle operations of regional team and manage employees
• Supporting engineers on oceanographic research voyages for their maintenance of complex research and auxiliary equipment
• Manage project planning and execution as part of order/ contract execution
• Ensure customer and internal stakeholder satisfaction
• Ensure adequate capabilities in team for execution of complex projects
• Guide the team on technical specifications in tenders and bids
• Knowledge of OEMs, vendors in the field of oceanographic research and latest tools in the market.
• New development of tools and develop research programs incorporating current innovations for continuous improvement in existing products.
• Understand customer expectations while developing new tools and products to-be-manufactured.
• Awareness of competition and technologies prevailing in the market
• Support Management to hire and develop R&D personnel.
• Establish project goals and priorities by collaborating with marketing and sales team.
• Experience in transfer of new technologies, patenting of products, and manufacturing processes for developing new products
• Research, design and evaluate materials, assemblies, processes, and equipment.
• Suggest training tools to enhance employee performance and skill development.
• Monitor team metrics and objectives to ensure meeting of goals.
• Documenting all phases of new product development including developing SOPs.
• General management of R&D facilities, upgradation, ISO compliances etc
• Establish and standardize testing procedures of raw materials, in-process and finished products to customer acceptance
• Oversee research projects, guide colleagues to ensure on-time completion within budget.
• Attending industry conferences in the field of research topics of interest.

Preferred candidate profile

• Hands-on personality with readiness to go offshore for problem solving.
• Candidates with BE in EEE/ECE & ME. Electronics or MBA are preferred
• Proven experience in a relevant role.

• Ability to manage pressure and stay calm during tough work challenges
• A strong sense of creativity aids in the process of thinking of new product ideas and solving problems creatively.
