Sr. R&D Engineer- High Voltage

NKT is establishing a global acting power cable accessories R&D team with focus on leading development projects for power cable accessories. We are therefore currently expanding our R&D HVAC Accessories team, and excited to offer you a unique opportunity as R&D Engineer at our Global Competency Centre in Chennai.

We are searching for a colleague with some years of experience in the field of high voltage power products. Practical experience in electrical field simulations and the interpretation of the results in this area is mandatory.

The specialists purpose is product development projects of high voltage power cable accessories to deliver new designs based on innovative concepts and ideas.

• Collaborate close contact with other specialists, Senior and R&D design engineers and deliver new designs of high voltage power cable accessories based on market/technical specifications, innovative concepts and ideas.
• Work together with R&D design engineers and Project managers on new product development and Performance enhancement of existing HVAC product range.
• Will be responsible for implementing comprehensive knowledge and experience in high voltage power products and applications to contribute in development projects.
• Should perform analytical calculations and electrical simulations using COMSOL and having good understanding of electrical results from Multiphysics software COMSOL and utilizing for designing of robust electrical products.
• Responsible for writing the test plan and confirm new product design and performance in compliance with IEC, IEEE standards.
• Will be responsible to evaluate electrical and mechanical simulation results to optimize and validate the new designs.

• BTech/MTech degree in Electrical engineering having 8-10 years experience in R&D of high voltage electric products.
• Good understanding of IEC, IEEE, ANSI Standards, materials, manufacturing, quality methods used for development of High voltage Products
• Good experience in COMSOL software for electrical field and thermal simulations of High or Medium voltage electrical products.
• Should possess good understanding and knowledge on at least one materials used in medium and high voltage cable accessories.
• Knowledge or working experience in high voltage test lab to qualify the electrical products.
• Should have good experience in using of Stage-Gate Model or Agile methods to develop new products.
