Country Chief Financial Officer
Job Description:
1. Financial Planning and Strategy:
- Develop and implement the country's financial strategy in alignment with overall corporate goals.
- Oversee the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring accurate financial projections.
- Provide strategic financial insights to the executive team to guide decision-making and business growth.
- Ensure that financial goals are aligned with market conditions, economic outlooks, and company objectives.
2. Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring compliance with local regulations and corporate standards.
- Conduct regular financial analysis to monitor performance against targets and identify areas for improvement.
- Implement financial metrics and KPIs to track company performance and support strategic initiatives.
3. Cash Flow and Capital Management:
- Manage the company's cash flow, ensuring there is sufficient liquidity for day-to-day operations.
- Oversee working capital management, including receivables, payables, and inventory management.
- Identify and manage capital allocation for strategic investments, acquisitions, or business expansion.
- Develop strategies to optimize the capital structure and balance debt vs. equity financing.
4. Compliance, Governance, and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws, financial regulations, and corporate governance standards.
- Oversee audit processes and coordinate with external auditors to ensure accurate and transparent financial statements.
- Implement effective internal controls to mitigate financial risks, fraud, and errors.
- Continuously assess economic, financial, and operational risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
5. Tax Planning and Optimization:
- Ensure the company adheres to all local tax regulations and manages tax liabilities effectively.
- Work with tax consultants to develop tax planning strategies to minimize tax exposure.
- Manage transfer pricing and other cross-border tax-related matters, particularly for international businesses.
- Ensure compliance with indirect taxes like VAT, sales tax, or GST.
6. Financial Systems and Technology:
- Lead the implementation and optimization of financial systems and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) tools to streamline financial operations.
- Explore and implement automation tools and technology solutions to improve efficiency in financial processes (e.g., automation of invoicing, reconciliations).
- Ensure that all financial data is secure and protected against cyber threats and complies with relevant data privacy laws.
7. Investor Relations and Stakeholder Management:
- Maintain relationships with key investors, shareholders, and other stakeholders, providing them with regular updates on financial performance.
- Communicate the company's financial strategy and performance in a transparent and effective manner.
- Support capital raising activities (equity, debt, etc.) when required.
- Participate in shareholder meetings, annual reports, and other communications to enhance stakeholder confidence.
8. Cost Management and Profitability Improvement:
- Oversee cost control measures to improve profit margins without compromising operational efficiency.
- Identify areas for cost optimization and guide business units to achieve financial targets.
- Review pricing strategies and product profitability to ensure financial goals are met.
9. Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead the finance team within the country, including managing and mentoring key finance professionals.
- Ensure that finance team members have access to continuous training and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative and performance-driven culture within the finance department.
- Ensure effective talent management and succession planning for key finance roles.
10. Mergers, Acquisitions, and Partnerships:
- Assess potential M&A (mergers and acquisitions) opportunities, including conducting financial due diligence and modeling.
- Manage the integration of acquired businesses, ensuring financial and operational synergies are realized.
- Oversee strategic partnerships and joint ventures, ensuring financial alignment and profitability.
11. Business Performance and Strategic Decision Support:
- Provide critical financial input to support business decisions in areas like expansion, pricing, and product development.
- Evaluate new business opportunities, market entry strategies, and investments from a financial perspective.
- Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO and other senior executives on financial matters.
12. Stakeholder Communication and Reporting:
- Act as the primary point of contact for financial matters within the country, providing clarity and insights to stakeholders.
- Communicate with regional/global CFOs to ensure alignment in strategy and operational objectives.
- Ensure timely, accurate reporting of financial results to the parent company or corporate headquarters.
