The Infrastructure product organization includes dozens of engineering teams responsible for New Relic s customer facing infrastructure monitoring experiences, agents, integrations across AWS, Azure, and other cloud services, initiatives building New Relic s next generation platform capabilities, as well as vulnerability management and security testing capabilities in our nascent but fast-growing product security business. You will help us drive thought leadership, build and ship enterprise ready products, improve operational excellence across services you own, develop engineering talent, and support the exponential data growth and demand of our customers by providing innovative ways to operate and analyze their most important applications!
What youll do
Principal engineers play a critical role in our engineering organization. We believe in small teams aligned around functionally related services. This engineer will lead teams within the Infrastructure product organization to develop great products.
Engage, embed, and go deep with teams on high-impact projects.
Do run-ahead research and build prototypes for new features or to optimize existing systems for performance or cost.
Coach and mentor the teams you collaborate with and develop balanced, maintainable solutions that leave teams healthier than before.
Contribute to cross-team initiatives and promote standards and information sharing between teams.

10+ years of professional software development experience
Proven track record of senior technical leadership
Knowledge of fundamentals required to build and operate highly-available software and data pipelines at scale including data structures, architectural patterns, distributed systems and supporting toolchains.
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to seek consensus, provide technical leadership, lead by example, exhibiting patience and determination.
Ability to rapidly come up to speed on new teams and services to make decisive organizational and technical impact
