We are seeking a skilled and experienced Enterasys Switches Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) Engineer to join our network infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience configuring, deploying, and maintaining Enterasys switches and wireless controllers in enterprise environments. You will be responsible for ensuring the performance, reliability, and security of our wired and wireless networks while providing technical support and troubleshooting expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
Enterasys Switches Management :
Configure, deploy, and maintain Enterasys switches in enterprise environments.
Ensure proper VLAN setup, port configuration, and network segmentation.
Manage switch features including STP, port security, QoS, LACP, and link aggregation.
Monitor and optimize switch performance and ensure high availability of network services.
Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) Management :
Install, configure, and maintain Enterasys Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs) and access points.
Configure SSIDs, VLANs, security settings (WPA2, WPA3), and access control policies for wireless networks.
Manage RF settings, channel optimization, and roaming capabilities for seamless wireless connectivity.
Network Monitoring Troubleshooting :
Use Enterasys management platforms (e.g., NMS, XMC, or NetSight) to monitor network performance, including switches and wireless components.
Diagnose and resolve network issues related to connectivity, performance, and security.
Perform fault isolation and troubleshooting using network diagnostic tools.
Security Management :
Configure and enforce security policies for both wired and wireless networks, including 802.1X, RADIUS, and ACLs.
Ensure the network adheres to corporate security standards and industry best practices.
Regularly update software/firmware on switches and controllers to mitigate security vulnerabilities.
Network Optimization :
Perform network optimization for both wired and wireless environments, ensuring proper throughput, coverage, and performance.
Conduct site surveys for wireless network planning and access point placement to ensure optimal coverage.
Implement load balancing, traffic shaping, and QoS policies to ensure optimal network performance.
Firmware Software Upgrades :
Plan and execute regular firmware and software upgrades for Enterasys switches and wireless controllers.
Ensure minimal network downtime during upgrades and validate device functionality post-upgrade.
Documentation Reporting :
Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including network diagrams, configuration files, and topology maps.
Provide regular performance and incident reports to management, highlighting network health and any issues.
Collaboration Support :
Collaborate with other IT teams (e.g., systems, security, and operations) to design and implement network solutions.
Provide support and training to junior engineers and other team members.
Respond to and resolve network-related incidents and service requests in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
Experience :
4+ years of experience working with Enterasys network equipment (switches, wireless LAN controllers, access points) in an enterprise environment.
Strong hands-on experience with Enterasys switches, including their configuration, troubleshooting, and management.
Experience with Enterasys Wireless LAN Controllers and access points.
Familiarity with wireless design principles, including RF planning, site surveys, and optimization.
Technical Skills :
In-depth knowledge of Enterasys network products and their configuration.
Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, STP, Spanning Tree Protocol, LACP, QoS, and network security principles.
Expertise in configuring wireless networks with Enterasys controllers, SSIDs, and security protocols.
Familiarity with Enterasys network management tools like NetSight or XMC.
Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, PRTG, SolarWinds, etc.).
Certifications :
Enterasys or Extreme Networks certification (e.g., Certified Associate, Certified Professional) is preferred.
CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or similar networking certifications are a plus.
Familiarity with wireless certifications (e.g., CWNA) is a plus.

Understanding of SD-WAN, cloud networking, and other advanced networking technologies.
