Job Summary

The database administrator is a key member of the Technology Operations team who is responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, security, and performance of various databases, such as Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. The database administrator ensures the availability, integrity, and reliability of the data and applications that support the business operations.

Responsibilities

• Installing, configuring, upgrading, and patching database software and related tools
• Creating and managing database objects, such as tables, indexes, views, triggers, stored procedures, and functions
• Implementing and enforcing database security policies and procedures
• Performing backup and recovery operations, using various methods and tools
• Monitoring and tuning database performance, using various metrics and tools.
• Troubleshooting and resolving database issues and incidents
• Developing and documenting database standards, best practices, and procedures
• Providing technical support and guidance to users and developers
• Evaluating and testing new database features and technologies
• Collaborating with other IT teams on database-related projects and initiatives
• Implementing database security and accessibility such as SSO / AD authentication.
• Responsible for capacity planning and high availability of the databases.
• Managing users and security
• Responsible for database patch and addressing all database vulnerabilities.
• Cloud Database Expertise
• Responsible for maintaining database license and cost management.

Skills and Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field
• At least 10 years of experience as a database administrator, working with Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL
• In-depth knowledge of database concepts, principles, and practices
• Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL languages
• Familiarity with database administration tools, such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, SQL Server Management Studio, and MySQL Workbench.
• Experience with backup and recovery tools, such as RMAN, SQL Server Backup, MySQL Backup, and Veeam.
• Experience with performance tuning tools, such as Oracle Performance Tuning, SQL Server Profiler, and MySQL Performance Schema.
• Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions, such as Oracle Data Guard, SQL Server Always On, MySQL Replication, and Postgres Streaming Replication
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
