QA Automation Engineer

Title : QA Engineer

The Group : The IWPT Data Platform team at Morningstar is seeking a meticulous and highly motivated QA Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a QA Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products before they are released to our clients, ensuring the smooth operation of their financial systems.

The Role : As a QA Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and executing test plans and test cases, identifying defects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest quality standards for our software products.

Responsibilities :

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop test plans and test cases based on project requirements and specifications.

• Execute manual test cases, identify defects, and document test results meticulously. This includes functional, regression, and user acceptance testing.

• Effectively report and track defects, working closely with developers to ensure their resolution.

• Create and maintain detailed test documentation, including test cases, test scripts, and test data.

• Set up and configure test environments as needed to replicate production conditions.

• Ensure that software testing processes and procedures are followed according to industry best practices and company standards.

• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and resolve issues.

• Identify opportunities for test automation and work with the automation team to implement automated test scripts.

• Utilize testing tools such as JIRA and TestRail.

• Apply basic SQL knowledge for data validation and testing.

• Perform Data Integration Testing, Database Validation, Data Mapping Verification, and Data Consistency Checks.

• Conduct Data Migration Testing and Test Data Preparation.

• Execute API Testing to ensure the integrity of data exchange between systems.

Requirements :

Technical Skills:

• Proven experience in manual software testing, including test case design and execution.

• Familiarity with software testing methodologies, test design, and defect tracking.

• Proficiency in using testing tools such as JIRA and TestRail.

• Basic knowledge of SQL for data validation and testing.

• Experience with Data Integration Testing, Database Validation, Data Mapping Verification, and Data Consistency Checks.

• Knowledge of Data Migration Testing and Test Data Preparation.

• Proficiency in API Testing.

Soft Skills:

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science , Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

• Minimum 2 years of experience in manual software testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of test automation tools and frameworks (a plus but not required ).

• Knowledge of any one programming language (a plus but not required ).
