We are currently seeking a skilled SQL DBA with comprehensive expertise in Windows environments, proficient in database management tools like Spotlight, and possesses a broad range of database expertise including MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL. The candidate should be capable of working in a challenging environment and able to continuously innovate and work on solutions that make a real word difference to our clients. You will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our SQL databases while collaborating closely with our development and infrastructure teams.

The ideal candidate will be capable of diagnosing complex problems, utilizing ingenuity, thoroughness, and practicality; and perform their work with minimal oversight. The ideal candidate would also be outgoing, self-motivated, have great attention to detail, take initiative, and understand how their tasks align with business needs and prioritize accordingly.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of SQL databases on all operating systems, ensuring their performance, availability, and security.
• Proactively monitor database performance using tools such as Spotlight, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks to ensure optimal system efficiency.
• Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies to minimize data loss and ensure business continuity in the event of system failures or disasters.
• Implement robust security measures to safeguard sensitive data within the databases, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability assessments.
• Investigate and resolve database-related issues promptly, using advanced troubleshooting techniques and collaborating with relevant teams to implement effective solutions.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices, and generate reports on database performance and utilization as required.
• Provide as-needed support for escalated items from helpdesk.
• Familiarity with basic database administration including backups, restores, security, and file storage.
• Work cross-functionally with the different teams: dev team, customer support, product management, and others.
• Participate in systems implementation projects (requirements documentation, systems configuration, test documentation/execution, issue identification and resolution).

Requirements:

• Technical-related Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three to five years of progressive experience in related disciplines in lieu of education
• 3+ years of progressive experience in SQL Server and systems administration for small to medium enterprise level companies
• Experience database administration including backups, restores, security, and file storage
• Experience administering SQL Server 2012 or newer and strong understanding of SQL database concepts and querying
• Skilled in Windows Server 2012 or later including Windows Server Core Versions
• Self-starter attitude, combined with the ability to exercise independent judgment and critical thinking with minimal supervision
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred qualifications:

• Working knowledge in one or more general purpose programming languages, which interest in learning other coding languages and skills as needed
• Experience with vCenter Server or other virtualization platforms
• Experience supporting an end-user-computing environment while demonstrating knowledge of Windows Server environments and common management tasks
• Experience working with Active Directory and PowerShell
• MongoDB, mySQL, or PostgreSQL experience
• Experience working in a global environment
• Understanding of basic networking concepts to include vLAN, IP addressing/Subnetting, DNS, VPN, Wireless, and firewall and switch management
• Familiarity of basic storage concepts including CIFS/SMB, NAS, raid groups, and basic block storage
