Job Overview:
We are seeking a practical Platform Engineer for this position. The focus of this role is to improve the Developer Experience. The platform handled by this team is a platform for development purposes.

• Design, build, and maintain platform services that allow developers to run applications easily and stably.
• Design, build, and maintain an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) to unify the development experience and improve accessibility.
• Design, develop, and maintain a unified interface that allows developers to easily prepare production environments.

Additionally, this team plays a role in providing platforms that enhance development speed and improve the development experience for developers.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Application Platform Development & Maintenance:
• Design, build, and maintain platform services to ensure developers can run applications easily and stably.
• Ensure high reliability and availability of development platform services.
2. Internal Developer Platform (IDP) Development:
• Design, build, and maintain an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) to streamline the development experience and improve platform accessibility.
• Standardize the development environment and tools to provide a consistent experience for developers.
3. Unified Production Environment Interface:
• Design, develop, and maintain a unified interface for developers to prepare and configure production environments easily.
• Create self-service capabilities for production environment provisioning to reduce reliance on support teams.
4. Developer Experience Improvement:
• Continuously improve the developer experience by streamlining workflows and reducing cognitive load for developers.
• Collaborate with development teams to gather feedback and implement improvements to platform capabilities.
5. Automation & Self-Service Enablement:
• Automate repetitive tasks and streamline operational workflows to reduce manual intervention.
• Provide self-service tools, templates, and services that allow developers to independently utilize platform capabilities.
6. Collaboration & Communication:
• Collaborate with SREs, software developers, and product teams to understand development needs and ensure platform alignment.
• Act as a technical advisor for platform usage and assist development teams with platform-related issues.
7. Monitoring & Continuous Improvement:
• Monitor platform usage and performance, and identify areas for improvement.
• Implement and refine observability features (e.g., metrics, logs, and tracing) to provide visibility into platform health and usage.

These responsibilities aim to support developers in creating, testing, and deploying applications with greater speed, reliability, and consistency.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

We are looking for individuals who fulfill multiple of the listed skills and qualifications.

• 3+ years of experience as a Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), or related role.
• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Crossplane, CloudFormation) for automating platform provisioning and configuration.
• Experience with container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, EKS, or GKE) and understanding of service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio or Linkerd).
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g., ArgoCD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) to support platform service delivery.
• Strong programming skills (e.g.Go) for platform automation.
• Experience with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) to enable platform visibility.
• Familiarity with modern cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) and experience with cloud-native application development.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with platform abstraction frameworks (e.g., Kratix,kustomize,Crossplane,) to reduce the learning curve for development teams.
• Experience with Backstage or similar Developer Portal platforms to enable better developer experience.
• Knowledge of cost optimization techniques for platform infrastructure.
• Experience working in a microservices architecture and understanding of its operational challenges.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and DevOps principles.
• Knowledge of security best practices, including IAM policies, network security, and data protection strategies.
• Experience with API design, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
• Contribution to CNCF or equivalent OSS projects.
