Job Description: Trade Compliance Specialist-
Overview:-
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Trade Compliance Specialist to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals with strong expertise in trade compliance activities, particularly import/export regulations, customs procedures, and global trade policies. You will be responsible for conducting research, analyzing trade data, and ensuring that our operations comply with international trade regulations. Your work will be critical in supporting our organization's ability to navigate complex global markets efficiently and compliantly.
Must Have Skills:-
- In-depth Knowledge of Trade Compliance:- The candidate must have a strong understanding of trade compliance activities, including import and export laws, tariffs, sanctions, and other regulatory requirements. Knowledge of the end-to-end procedures involved in import/export processes, including the various policies and documentation required, is essential for this role.
- Hands-on Experience with Country-Specific Policies:- The ideal candidate should be skilled at analyzing and interpreting data related to country-specific trade policies and regulatory guidelines, including the handling of Product and Government Agency (PGA) details and Other Government Agency (OGA) data.
- Experience with Dual-Use Products:- Experience in searching, finding, and analyzing government databases for dual-use products, which have both commercial and military applications, is a key aspect of this role. A deep understanding of compliance requirements in relation to dual-use products is necessary for effective trade management.
- Legal Acumen and Communication Skills:- The role requires the ability to understand and interpret legal documents such as trade agreements, sanctions, and export control regulations. The candidate should be comfortable communicating with government bodies, ensuring compliance with all applicable trade laws and addressing regulatory inquiries when required.
Good to Have Skills:-
- Technology Proficiency:- Knowledge of technologies used in content building platforms would be a significant advantage. This includes familiarity with software or platforms that facilitate trade compliance management.
- Cross-Department Collaboration:- The ability to work with various IT and tech departments on projects related to trade compliance is highly beneficial. Experience coordinating across different functional teams helps ensure seamless project execution and understanding of compliance requirements in technical systems.
- HS and ECCN Classification:- Experience in classifying goods under Harmonized System (HS) codes and Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) is highly valued, as it ensures compliance with export regulations and helps with accurate reporting.
- Tech Background (Preferred but Not Mandatory):- A background in technology or IT is a plus but not essential. Understanding technical requirements and how they integrate with trade compliance processes could enhance performance in this role.
Key Responsibilities:-
- Research and Analysis:- Conduct comprehensive research on global trade compliance regulations, focusing on import/export laws, tariffs, sanctions, and customs requirements. Staying current with regulatory changes and ensuring that all trade compliance policies are up-to-date is essential.
- Content Management:- Organize, gather, and maintain accurate trade compliance content, covering various countries, industries, and product categories. This includes creating a repository of trade compliance resources such as policies, guidelines, and country-specific regulatory data.
- Regulatory Tracking:- Continuously monitor changes in international trade regulations and update internal systems to reflect the latest compliance rules. You will provide summaries and analyses of regulatory changes to internal teams and clients to ensure proper understanding and application.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders:- Work closely with cross-functional teams including leadership, customers, product development, and compliance departments to ensure that trade regulations are accurately implemented in business processes and systems.
- Support Development of Tools and Platforms:- Assist in the development and enhancement of trade compliance tools, ensuring that platforms are aligned with the latest regulatory guidelines and can facilitate accurate trade documentation and compliance.
Qualifications and Requirements:-
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Legal Studies, International Business, Economics, or a related field is required. An MBA in International Trade or International Business is preferred but not mandatory.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in trade compliance or a related field is required.
- Knowledge of foreign languages is an added advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to interact effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
