Role & responsibilities
System Management: • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, servers, and software. • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal uptime. • Manage system backups, recovery solutions, and disaster recovery planning. Network Administration: • Oversee LAN/WAN, firewalls, VPNs, and network devices (routers, switches). • Perform network troubleshooting and resolve connectivity issues. • Manage IP address allocation and DNS/DHCP configuration. Security: • Implement security measures to protect systems and data (e.g., firewalls, antivirus). • Apply patches and updates to address vulnerabilities. • Conduct regular audits and implement access controls for users and systems. Virtualization and Cloud: • Manage and maintain virtualized environments (e.g., Xenserver, VMware, Hyper-V, KVM). • Support cloud services and hybrid systems (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). User Support: • Provide technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and network issues. • Train staff on IT best practices and usage policies. Documentation and Reporting: • Maintain accurate documentation of IT infrastructure, configurations, and procedures. • Generate performance reports and suggest areas for improvement.
Preferred candidate profile
Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux. • Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs. • Understanding how routers, switches, and firewalls work. • Knowledge of VLANs, subnetting, and IP addressing. • Experience managing Active Directory, LDAP, and Group Policies. • Proficiency with email servers (e.g., Microsoft o365, Postfix). • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., Xen Server, VMware, Hyper-V, KVM). • Managing Server hardware, RAID setups and SAN/NAS devices. • Implementing and maintaining backup solutions. • Understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). • Basic understanding of firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection. • Familiarity with encryption, SSL/TLS, and secure authentication methods. • Conducting vulnerability assessments and patch management. • Proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or other scripting languages. • Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Ansible).
Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving
• Ability to diagnose hardware and software issues. • Familiarity with system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds). • Experience analyzing logs and resolving application conflicts.
Soft Skills • Communication: Explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. • Time Management: Handling multiple priorities and tasks efficiently. • Collaboration: Working with development, network, and IT support teams. • Documentation: Creating clear and concise system documentation.
