What You Can Expect

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading the physical design implementation of advanced semiconductor designs from synthesis to GDSII, ensuring optimal performance, power, and area (PPA).

• Driving the Place and Route (PNR) process, including floorplanning, placement, clock tree synthesis (CTS), and routing.

• Performing comprehensive Static Timing Analysis (STA), power analysis, and signal integrity checks to achieve signoff quality.

• Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including RTL design, verification, DFT, and package engineering, to align design objectives and resolve technical challenges.

• Innovating and developing new methodologies to optimize design efficiency, reliability, and scalability.

• Automating repetitive design tasks through scripting in Perl, Python, TCL, or other programming languages.

• Ensuring successful execution of physical design projects, meeting stringent timelines and quality standards.

• Providing technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and team members.

• Staying updated on the latest industry trends and advancements in physical design, tools, and technologies.

What Were Looking For

The organization is seeking an experienced and innovative Principal Engineer specializing in Physical Design with 10+ years of Industry experience, to join its dynamic team. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in driving the physical implementation of complex integrated circuits, collaborating across functions, and developing methodologies to enhance the design processes. This role requires deep expertise in Place and Route (P&R), Static Timing Analysis (STA), and signoff flows, as well as a passion for innovation and excellence.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor s or Master s degree in Electrical , Electronics or Computer Engineering, or a related field.

• 10+ years of experience in physical design for high-performance digital or mixed-signal ICs.

• Proficiency in Place and Route (PNR) tools such as Cadence Innovus, Synopsys ICC2, or Mentor Calibre.

• Expertise in Static Timing Analysis (STA) tools like PrimeTime or Tempus, and signoff methodologies.

• Strong scripting skills in Python, Perl, TCL, or Shell for process automation.

• Demonstrated experience in power, performance, and area (PPA) optimization and DRC/LVS closure.

• Proven ability to work collaboratively across functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead discussions and present technical concepts effectively.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with advanced process nodes (7nm, 5nm or below).

• Familiarity with machine learning applications in physical design workflows is good to have.

• Contributions to innovation, patents, or publications in the field of IC design.

• Knowledge of 3DIC or chiplet design or Sub System methodologies.
