Manipal Cigna - Investment Operations Manager (4-9 yrs)

- The role is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end investment operations to ensure full compliance with IRDA regulations, timely and accurate transaction processing, and effective risk management.

- This includes coordinating with the Investment Front Office and ensuring investments align with regulatory limits.

- The position requires establishing and maintaining robust system controls to prevent active breaches, manage passive breaches, and ensure prompt escalation as needed.

- Additional responsibilities include the integration of investment, mid-office, and financial accounting systems, close collaboration with financial accounting teams for timely reporting, and compliance with internal, concurrent, and statutory audits.

- The role also involves continuous monitoring and review of investment policies in line with regulatory changes, risk assessment, and process improvement to enhance efficiency and compliance across investment operations.

Responsibilities:

- Transaction Management: Coordinate investment transaction processing and activities with the Investment Front Office in Credence, ensuring timely execution and accuracy.

- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor investments to ensure compliance with IRDA regulations, implement system controls to prevent breaches, and escalate issues to CIO and CFO as required.

- Policy and Risk Management: Review and update the Investment Policy in line with regulatory changes, identify risks, and implement effective control measures.

- Fund Accounting and Reconciliation: Maintain accurate fund accounting, perform daily reconciliations, and ensure proper integration of investment systems with financial accounting systems.

- Audit and Reporting: Facilitate system, concurrent, and statutory audits; ensure timely submission of IRDA returns, internal/external reports, and ad-hoc requirements.

- Custodian Coordination: Work with custodians to maintain securities, manage corporate actions, and handle settlement of investment deals and creation of entity/security masters.

- System Enhancements: Drive system changes, conduct UAT for investment systems and ensure SOPs are regularly updated to reflect compliant and controlled processes.

- End-to-End Operations: Oversee processes such as interest accrual, amortization, valuation, and reconciliation, and prepare investment portfolio reports as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, or a related field.

- Postgraduate degree or professional certifications such as CA, CFA, CMA, MBA (Finance) preferred.

- 4+ years of experience in Investment operations or fund management, preferably in the insurance or financial services sector.

- Strong understanding of IRDA investment regulations and compliance frameworks.

- Hands-on experience with investment accounting systems (e.g. Credence) and financial reporting.

- Experience in managing audits.
