Job Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of microbiological tests on patient samples, including bacterial, viral, and fungal cultures, to identify pathogenic microorganisms
- Maintain and operate laboratory equipment, such as microscopes, incubators, and centrifuges, in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Prepare and analyze samples using various laboratory techniques, including staining, culturing, and biochemical assays
- Keep accurate records of test results and maintain the integrity of the laboratory data
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to interpret test results and provide valuable insights for patient care
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others
- Stay current with advancements in microbiology and contribute to the ongoing improvement of laboratory processes

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field
- Previous experience working in a clinical microbiology laboratory setting is preferred
- Strong knowledge of microbiological techniques and procedures
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in using laboratory equipment and computer systems

Roles and Responsibilities of Microbiology Technician at Manipal Hospitals:

1. Conducting various microbiological tests on patient samples to detect and identify microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.

3. Maintaining accurate and detailed records of all test results and laboratory procedures.
4. Ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures and safety protocols in the laboratory.
5. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide timely and accurate microbiology results for patient care.
6. Calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
7. Monitoring inventory levels of laboratory supplies and reagents, and procuring additional supplies as needed.
8. Participating in quality control and quality assurance activities to uphold the highest standards of laboratory testing.
9. Keeping abreast of new developments and advancements in microbiology and implementing new testing methodologies as appropriate.
10. Providing training and guidance to new laboratory staff and interns as required.
