Database Administrator

About the Role :

As a Database Administrator (DBA), you will be responsible for managing and maintaining databases, ensuring their optimal performance, security, and availability. You will work closely with development teams, data analysts, and other stakeholders to support data-driven applications and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities :

Database Management :

- Administer and maintain relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Couchbase, Cassandra).

- Install, configure, and upgrade database software.

- Perform database backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures.

- Monitor database performance and identify bottlenecks.

- Optimize database queries and indexes for efficient performance.

SQL Expertise :

- Strong proficiency in SQL for data manipulation, querying, and reporting.

- Experience with SQL tuning and optimization techniques.

NoSQL Databases :

- Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Couchbase, Cassandra) and their use cases.

- Experience with NoSQL data modeling and query optimization.

Cloud Platforms :

- Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure) and their database offerings (e.g., Cloud SQL, Cosmos DB, Aurora).

- Experience managing databases in cloud environments.

Security :

- Implement database security measures, including access controls, encryption, and auditing.

- Protect databases from vulnerabilities and threats.

Qualifications :

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- 3-7 years of experience as a Database Administrator.

- Strong proficiency in SQL and database management concepts.

- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.

- Knowledge of cloud platforms (GCP, Azure) is a plus.

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Good communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills :

- Experience with database replication and high availability.

- Knowledge of data warehousing and business intelligence tools.

- Certifications related to database administration (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate).
