RESPONSIBILITIES-
Leadership in Design & Engineering Strategy:
- Set and implement the overall design and engineering strategy for distributed solar projects (incl. residential), ensuring technical excellence, cost-efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Oversee both the design and engineering phases of rooftop (incl. residential) and ground-mounted solar PV projects, ensuring optimal layouts, system configurations, and detailed technical solutions.
-Work closely with cross-functional teams to align engineering designs with business development, procurement, and construction teams for seamless project execution.
Design Oversight:
-Lead the design team in creating detailed system layouts, including module placements, stringing, single-line diagrams (SLDs), electrical configurations, and energy yield analyses.
-Ensure all designs are optimized for site-specific conditions (rooftop structural capacity, shading, land conditions for ground-mounted systems) and maximize energy production.
-Oversee the use of design and simulation tools like PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope, and other industry-standard software for accurate energy modeling and performance evaluation.
Pre-Bid Design & Technical Support:
-Provide technical guidance and support during the pre-bid phase by developing preliminary system designs, feasibility studies, and energy yield estimates.
-Work with the business development and sales teams to ensure that all technical aspects of bids are aligned with client requirements and project feasibility.
-Ensure that pre-bid designs are competitive, compliant with technical regulations, and optimized for performance and cost.
Engineering Execution & Support:
-Provide oversight to engineering teams in system execution, ensuring the designs translate into high-quality installations.
-Support the project management team by ensuring engineering designs and plans are implemented correctly during installation and commissioning.
-Troubleshoot and resolve design and engineering challenges during project execution, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
Team Management & Development:
-Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of design engineers, ensuring collaboration, technical upskilling, and knowledge-sharing across the department.
-Establish performance metrics and continuous improvement initiatives for both the design and engineering teams, ensuring high productivity and efficiency.
-Promote innovation in design and engineering practices, continuously seeking to improve system performance, reduce costs, and enhance the quality of project delivery.
Regulatory Compliance & Technical Standards:
-Ensure all designs and engineering solutions adhere to Indian and international regulatory standards (MNRE, CEA, BIS, IEC) and safety guidelines.
-Keep the team updated on relevant policy changes and regulatory developments in the solar industry that impact system design and engineering practices.
-Ensure all rooftop and ground-mounted systems meet safety, structural, and electrical requirements in line with industry best practices.
Innovation & Cost Optimization:
-Drive innovation in solar system design by exploring the use of new materials, technology, and system configurations to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
-Lead efforts in integrating new solar technologies (e.g., floating solar, energy storage) into designs for distributed solar projects.
-Identify and implement cost-saving measures while maintaining high technical standards for performance and reliability.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Client Interaction:
-Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders (procurement, project management, sales) and external partners (vendors, clients) to ensure alignment on project goals and technical requirements.
-Engage with clients during the design and engineering phases to provide expert technical advice and address any design-related queries.
Budget & Resource Management:
-Ensure that design and engineering solutions align with project budgets and timelines, balancing cost-efficiency with technical performance.
-Oversee resource allocation for the design and engineering teams, ensuring optimal use of tools, software, and personnel.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED-
'-10-15 years of experience in solar PV system design and engineering, with significant experience in distributed solar projects (rooftop and ground-mounted).
-Strong background in both the design and engineering of solar EPC projects, with a demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
-Proven experience in providing technical pre-bid support and developing competitive technical proposals.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE-
'- Proficiency in solar PV design software (PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope, etc.) and a strong understanding of energy modeling, electrical system design, and structural engineering.
- Deep understanding of Indian and international standards governing solar PV systems (MNRE, CEA, IEC, NEC, BIS).
-Expertise in rooftop and ground-mounted system designs, with attention to site-specific constraints and optimization strategies.
