Job Description: Mechanical Maintenance Technician
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to oversee the upkeep and smooth operation of equipment and systems in our chemical processing plant focused on precious metals recovery, refining, and repurposing. The candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining operational efficiency, minimizing downtime, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Maintenance & Operations:

• Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment such as furnaces, reactors, pumps, compressors, conveyors, and filtration systems.
• Repair and replace defective components, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Manage the calibration and alignment of rotating and static equipment.

Project Management:

• Plan and execute maintenance schedules to align with production goals.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams during plant shutdowns, repairs, or upgrades.
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.

Process Optimization:

• Identify and implement measures to improve the efficiency and reliability of mechanical systems.
• Support the development of predictive maintenance strategies using tools like vibration analysis and thermal imaging.

Health, Safety, and Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and regulations during maintenance activities.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
• Conduct safety training for maintenance team members.

Inventory and Documentation:

• Manage spare parts inventory to avoid delays in repair work.
• Document all maintenance procedures, SOPs, and equipment history.

Vendor Management:

• Coordinate with external vendors for the procurement of spare parts and outsourced repair services.
• Evaluate vendor performance to ensure high-quality service and materials.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 2/3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance in a chemical or metallurgical industry, preferably dealing with precious metals or related processes.
• Proficiency in handling pumps, reactors, heat exchangers, and other chemical plant equipment, welding, lab maintenance, furnace burner maintenance
• Knowledge of materials handling, corrosion-resistant materials, and thermal equipment.
• Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is a plus.

Skills Required:

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on experience with preventive and predictive maintenance techniques.
• Understanding of safety standards and practices in chemical units.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
• Good communication and team coordination skills.
