Job Purpose:
The main purpose of the role is to lead the new product engineering activities. This will include guiding team in concept development, detailed design & development of new products, validation by prototype and testing. The job holder will bring his professional expertise and knowledge in all aspects of MV / LV Switchgear, manufacturing processes and working with testing laboratories.
Key Accountabilities:
Description of the Accountability
1. Prepare a full project plan and guide the team in monitoring and in execution of design activities of NPD projects within specified timeline and budget. Actively track and manage risks to the plan.
2. Follow design processes developed by Lucy engineering team. Prepare drawings, BOM as per Lucy PLM & CAD system. Seek & implements suggestions for improvements
3. To design part and assemblies while meeting cost and quality targets. Explore and evaluate alternate solutions, alternate manufacturing processes to achieve optimum solutions
4. Plan and supervise the prototype building to follow the internal/external testing schedules. Coordinate and witness internal/external testing as required, both in India and abroad
5. To plan and execute work in collaboration within NPD and cross functional team in order to execute the engineering activities. Work with Global Manufacturing Units for engineering related activities
6. Maintenance of required data for product configuration for contract work and customisation, preparing logic and testing the functionality of Configurator.
7. Lead for the design reviews and use of various tools like DFMEA, DAR for improvements in design at various stages. Maintain records of issues, improvements and closure reports
8. Maintain complete design documentation and project files pertaining to technical information
9. Lead the detailed technical reviews, explain designs, analyse failures, root causes and propose corrective actions
Job Context
The position is responsible for planning, monitoring, executing all allocated engineering designs and other related activities which are defined through project scope. Working as a senior and key member within the team, this position is also expected to achieve, improve and optimize all project and engineering activities as per schedule, costs and expected quality standards.
The position is also responsible for coordinating the required internal and external testing, design reviews, ensuring use of design tools in order to achieve the desired outcomes, improve processes.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge: - Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical / Mechanical with MV/LV switchgear background
Minimum Experience: 8 to 12 years of experience
Job-Specific Skills: Understanding of Marketing specification, understanding of switchgear products & its applications, Cost analysis, Manufacturing processes, Interpretation of switchgear product standards and associated testing,
Behavioural Competencies: Positive attitude, Develop and maintain effective relationship with internal & external stakeholders, good communication skills.
