About the Team

The Transportation team in India is a part of the larger team that operates in Mooresville. We support our Mooresville team on various operational as well as reporting and project related activities. Our operations span across, Freight Pay, System Maintenance and Exception Management. We develop and support reporting for Purchase Orders, Carriers and 3PLs operating our DCC buildings. We also work on projects such as Utilization, Forecasting and Transportation Modeling.

Job Summary:

The primary purpose of this role is to help Lowe s become more efficient at managing our Transportation Operations and serving our internal customers by facilitating a center of excellence for data, analytics, insights, and reporting. In this role, you will own and execute high complex BAU processes that involve dealing with ambiguity along with guiding the team and providing your SME consultation. You will also lead process efficiency measures being undertaken within the team with minimal support and guidance. You are expected to drive high complex projects that result in cost savings or service improvement with minimal guidance and support.


This role leverages multiple resources, advanced analytic methodologies and data streams to support recommendations for business decisions. This individual will lead strategic initiatives by collaborating across teams, if necessary, to solve identified business problems by gathering requirements and translating them into meaningful problem statements. The individual is expected to deliver results with high quality, timeliness and efficiency while identifying and implementing best methods and industry standards along the way. In addition, the individual will also support the team with process trainings within the team.

To be successful, the individual in this role must have a strong understanding of analytical techniques and disparate data sources - both internal and external, and strong domain expertise.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide data, analytics, insights, and reporting expertise in support of transportation data flow, volume forecasting, rate optimization, load planning, non-retail movements, parcel, ecommerce, freight pay, lane analysis, carrier performance and real time metrics.
  • Utilize your knowledge on how to best leverage disparate data sources, relevant external data and strong domain expertise, in order to deliver on the needs of the transportation team.
  • Leverage your technical & analytical skills to perform analytical and project work ultimately ensuring a high quality deliverable that provides impactful as well as actionable insights.
  • Translates a business question into a qualtifiable problem statement and then collect, clean, transform and restructures data for mathematical or statistical analysis.
  • Translates the results of your mathematical or statistical analysis back into business terms, present the findings and solutions in a comprehensible manner to the team before delivering the results to senior leadership so they can take necessary action.
  • Establishes and maintains consistency in analytical and project best practices by brainstorming and partnering with other areas within the broader organization of Supply Chain.
  • Responsible to continuously learn, share and implement new analytical methodologies and techniques.
  • Develops solid problem statements and use-cases, in collaboration with business partners, on how value can be created; builds analytical models, analyses and tests the solution before developing actionable recommendations for the business.
  • Tracks measures of success and develops dashboards and reports that measure key performance indicators driving actionable insights.
  • Offers insight and recommendations based on the data analysis
  • Provides support to Analysts and Associate Analysts on any and all Ad-Hoc Financial Analysis requests. Validates their work to make sure we are sending out meaningful and accurate results with a quick turn around time.
  • Oversees all process transitions happening within the team to ensure the business context and operational accuracy is being maintained. Also ensures the knowledge transfer within the team.
  • Oversees all the process and project documentation within the team to ensure business context, knowledge as well as the steps involved are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Provides operational support to the TL.

Years of Experience:

Overall 3+ years of Experience

  • 2 years of experience in Supply chain Management
  • 2 years experience in Transportation, Logistics management
  • 1-2 years experience reporting and data analytics
  • 1-2 years experience of project management

  • Bachelor s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Research or Related Field
  • MBA or master s degree in Supply Chain

Skill Set Required

Primary Skills (must have)

  • Experience in Data mining and visualization tool such as PoweBI, SQL, Python and Excel
  • Experience in building automations using VBA or Python
  • Experience in Statistical Modeling and Exploratory Analysis
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, including the ability to develop analytical documents for presentation to management
  • Demonstrated experience in mining data from multiple systems via database analysis tools
  • Working knowledge of transportation operations
  • Ability to manage and manipulate large data sets for use in analytical tools
  • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills
  • Experience with Python and Knime Analytics

Secondary Skills (desired)

  • Experience with JDA Transportation Management System
  • Experience with Transporation Modeler
