Way.com is looking for a highly skilled and organized Linux System Administrator with strong DevOps knowledge to join our on-site team in Trivandrum, Kerala. In this role, you will take ownership of maintaining and optimizing Linux-based systems, while also utilizing DevOps tools to streamline and automate infrastructure processes. Your expertise in Linux (preferably RHEL, CentOS, AlmaLinux), web servers (nginx), cloud security, and automation tools like Ansible will be essential in ensuring that our systems are highly available, secure, and optimized.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement automation, optimize system configurations, and manage infrastructure. If you have a passion for working in a dynamic environment and have hands-on experience in security, cloud technologies, and container management, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Linux System Administration: Administer and optimize Linux servers (preferably RHEL, CentOS, AlmaLinux), ensuring system uptime, performance, and security.
- Web Server Management: Configure and manage nginx for serving web applications and ensuring efficient load balancing.
- Automation and Configuration Management: Use Ansible to automate system provisioning, software deployment, and configuration management.
- Virtualization Management: Administer and manage VMWare or Proxmox environments to ensure efficient resource utilization and server management.
- Security Management: Implement and manage security best practices, including firewalls, WAF (Web Application Firewalls), patch management, and regular vulnerability scanning.
- Cloudflare/Content Delivery Network (CDN): Administer and optimize Cloudflare or other CDN solutions to enhance website performance and security.
- Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor system health and performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability across the infrastructure.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Development, Product, QA) to enhance deployment strategies, incident resolution, and optimize infrastructure.
- Organization and Communication: Stay organized by effectively managing tasks and calendars, following up on issues, and maintaining clear communication through email updates.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Linux system administration.
- Strong expertise with Linux (preferably RHEL, CentOS, AlmaLinux).
- Experience with nginx: Configuring and optimizing web servers to handle traffic efficiently.
- Hands-on experience with Ansible for automation and system configuration management.
- Proficiency in administering VMWare or Proxmox for virtualized environments.
- Security knowledge: Experience with firewalls, WAF, and best security practices (e.g., securing servers, managing access control).
- Experience with Cloudflare (or any CDN): Knowledge of CDN management and optimization techniques.
- Strong organizational skills, with an ability to manage schedules, send and read emails, and follow up on outstanding issues.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to handle production issues promptly.
- Good scripting skills in Bash or Python.
- Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or DigitalOcean.
- Experience with other automation tools such as Terraform.
- Familiarity with system monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or AWS CloudWatch.
- Understanding of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with logging and monitoring tools such as ELK Stack, Datadog, or Splunk.
