The primary purpose of the individual is to take complete ownership of all the SQL Server Database Administration within the organisation and provide with an efficient, functional and stable SQL Server database environment across multiple application on premise and in Azure.
The secondary purpose is to provide support to the business and technology departments in the use of MUFG Pension & Market Services SQL Server based systems and database tools and technologies.
Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities
Strategic Focus
Identify, own and deliver new initiatives in the team.
Drive innovation using the new features in Database software.
Assist with the transition to cloud from a Database perspective.
Identify, collect requirements, develop workflows to automate support processes.
Analyse, develop and implement process to secure, reduce downtime and optimise Database performance.
Operational Management
Provide administration Support to MUFG s SQL Server Databases including:
Maintaining and enhancing current procedures.
Upgrading and patching SQL Server from earlier versions.
Backup & Recovery of databases and process improvements.
Database performance assessment and optimisation.
Implement technologies related to Replication, Mirroring, Log Shipping, Partitioning.
Migration and data movement to Azure.
Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.
Working in the context of large (1TB+ databases) and associated performance challenges.
Supporting metadata packages (SSIS), for reporting purposes.
Assist in maintaining Data Quality and Data Integrity.
Ensure adequate capacity for database growth.
Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems.
Provide recommendations on systems configuration and operational infrastructure as required by management.
Adopt and apply best practice approaches for the operating environment.
Ensure best value for money is obtained from third party vendors by evaluating software tools as required.
Effective monitoring, system status alerts and escalation where appropriate.
Perform project and system health checks.
Raise change controls for defects as required.
Evaluate software suitability and viability to determine its usefulness in addressing the needs of MUFG.
Performance tuning of databases, queries & reports.
Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database systems.
Modifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers and the business.
User access creation, monitoring and maintenance of system security.
Build maintain SQL database pipelines in cloud.
Documentation of procedures and processes.
Implement and Review Disaster Recovery strategy.
People Leadership
Provide training to the IT support teams on supported tools and environments.
Governance & Risk
Help resolving Information Security Corrective actions.
Develop and Maintain Documentation related to Standard Operations Procedures.
Raising security issues and breaches to Manager.
Report to Management of any issues that may impact the Business.
Maintain awareness and champion ITIL best practices.
Adhere to all MUFG s standards, policies and procedures.

Experience & Personal Attributes
Experience
Overall 5 to 8 Years with Minimum of 3+ years relevant experience working with large SQL Server Database
Sound knowledge of database architecture, integration issues, third party reporting and data extraction tools.
Hands on experience with Azure SQL and Azure Data Factory.
Knowledge and understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
Experience in Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, Analysis Services and SSIS.
Structured programming methodology, data analysis and design skills - T-SQL & SQL Knowledge.
Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.
Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
Experience with technical documentation and content management.
Exposure to business contingency standards and acceptable practices that comply with statutory and audit requirements.
Microsoft Certification is preferred - MCTS, MCITP.
Broad knowledge or exposure to financial services/ banking/ accounting applications.
Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory and proper disk configurations.
Database planning and scheduling experience.
Knowledge of shell scripting (e.g PowerShell) or any automation tools to make automation processes/dashboards.
Basic knowledge of PowerBI reporting to support PowerBI gateway and dashboards.
Shall be able to investigate and resolve data related problems.
