Job Overview:

As a Junior Human Resource Associate in the Food & Beverage (F&B) industry, you will assist in the recruitment, onboarding, training, and employee relations processes. This role is essential to supporting the HR department in ensuring a productive, compliant, and positive work environment. You will work closely with senior HR staff and department heads to manage the day-to-day HR activities that are specific to the F&B sector, such as staffing shifts, handling employee concerns, and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Staffing Support: Assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, screening resumes, coordinating interviews, and conducting initial candidate assessments for front-line positions (servers, cooks, bartenders, etc.).
  • Employee Onboarding: Help with the onboarding process, including preparing and distributing orientation materials, conducting new hire orientations, and ensuring all necessary documents are completed and filed properly.
  • Training & Development: Assist in organizing and scheduling training programs, workshops, and development opportunities for employees. Support the tracking of employees' training progress and certifications (e.g., food safety training, alcohol service certifications).
  • Employee Records Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personal details, employment history, training logs, and performance evaluations.
  • Timekeeping & Attendance: Assist in managing attendance records and timekeeping systems, ensuring accuracy in shift schedules, overtime approvals, and leave requests.
  • Employee Relations & Support: Provide assistance in resolving day-to-day employee concerns, complaints, and conflicts in a professional and confidential manner. Act as a liaison between employees and management to foster positive relations.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure that the organization complies with labor laws, health and safety regulations, and industry-specific regulations related to food and beverage operations. Assist in conducting safety audits and ensuring workplace safety standards are maintained.
  • Performance Management: Assist with the coordination of performance reviews, including scheduling, tracking, and helping with feedback.
  • HR Reporting & Documentation: Help prepare and manage HR reports, including recruitment metrics, employee satisfaction surveys, and turnover rates.
  • General Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support for HR department activities, including scheduling meetings, preparing correspondence, and maintaining HR filing systems.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience: 0-2 years of experience in human resources, with preference given to those with experience in the F&B industry.
  • Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of labor laws, employee benefits, and workplace safety protocols.
  • Basic knowledge of HR software (e.g., HRIS, payroll systems) and MS Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and industry-specific requirements (preferred).
  • Multitasking ability and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:

  • The position may require flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays, to support restaurant or foodservice operations.
  • The role may require some physical tasks, such as filing, record keeping, and occasionally assisting with event setup.
  • Work is typically conducted in an office environment, but occasional visits to the workplace or restaurant locations may be required.Role & responsibilities
