Sr. Database Ops Engineer

Primary Responsibilities

• Supports complex database operations and data pipeline function
• Understands security nuances and potential security management issues in order to maintain SOX compliance
• Validates the effectiveness of deployed code by confirming new code is not adversely affecting other systems or other pieces of code
• Can be counted on to maintain servers during the off hours so the business can run smoothly during regular office hours
• Considered an expert at troubleshooting - acts as the first line of defense and knows enough to diagnose if it's server or code related without having to escalate
• Understands high-availability strategies and failover methodologies and optimizes code for scale and performance and troubleshoots optimization issues, choosing the right solution that causes the least amount of down time or impact
• Work with business stakeholders to define/clarify project requirements and acceptance criteria, define success metrics for features to be delivered.
• Advocate for best practices in SDLC, code reviews, standards, and release management.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues in production and development environments.

Qualifications, Skills, and Education

• 7+ years of experience in Database technologies both on-prem and cloud.
• Understanding of AWS concepts like RDS, Security Group etc.
• Knowledge of Identity and Access Management of databases along with best practices to be followed.
• Experience with database concepts and databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Aurora, DynamoDB
• Proficiency in project management tools: GitHub, GitLab, Jira, Slack, and Confluence. • Demonstrated expertise in Windows or Linux/Unix environments.
• Design & maintain the database systems in consultation with the data modelers, data architects and ETL specialists as well as the microservices/ functional specialists.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver working solutions on a tight schedule
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
