Role & responsibilities
i) Advice and opine on legal and administrative issues.
ii) Monitoring of litigation of the Commission pending on a PAN India basis.
iii) Appear/Attend Courts/Tribunals/Fora as and when required.
iv) Briefing and coordination with the Standing Counsels and Senior Advocates of the Commission.
v) Drafting of Speaking/Reasoned orders, Agreements, Reports, Replies, Orders, OMs, Public Notices, etc.
vi) Vetting of Counter Affidavits, Pleadings, Regulations, Agreements, Reports, Replies, Orders, OMs, Public Notices, etc.
vii) Coordination with the Autonomous Boards/Sections of the Commission for timely compliance with the directions of the Courts/Tribunals/Fora.
viii) Handling RTI applications, VIP references, and Parliament Questions.
ix) Litigation management and preparing MIS, and various reports.
x) Verification and processing of professional fee bills of Standing Counsels and Senior Advocates of the Commission.
xi) Legal research to provide Case Law/Judgments/Orders passed by the Honble Supreme Court/High Courts on various subjects and analyze their effects.
xii) Any other work assigned by the Competent Authority.
Preferred candidate profile
Qualification:
Degree in Law (LL.B) from a University/Institute in India recognized by the Bar Council of India; and
Applicant must be enrolled as an advocate in the Bar Council of India/State Bar Council in terms of the Advocates Act, 1961.
Experience:
At least 10 years standing in the profession after registration with the Bar Council; and
Minimum five (5) years’ experience of working in the Law Department in the Central Govt. or State Govt./Autonomous Organisation.
