We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with hands-on experience in PHP/Laravel,
MySQL or Postgres to join our Product and Engineering team in India.
We are seeking a Senior PHP/Laravel Engineer to take on the critical role of maintaining and
evolving a core system that forms the backbone of our platform. This position requires a
seasoned professional with a strong understanding of legacy system architecture,
troubleshooting, and optimization. While maintaining and improving existing systems will be the
primary focus, the role also provides opportunities to contribute to modernization efforts and
new feature development, and eventually move on to other technologies as well. So we need
someone who is passionate about learning and growing.

Responsibilities:
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance our core systems built on PHP and Laravel.
• Identify and address performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and architectural
challenges in the existing system.
• Develop and maintain scalable REST APIs to support ongoing platform needs.
• Design and refine data models, and write efficient queries for MySQL and/or
PostgreSQL databases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration between legacy
and modern systems.
• Provide technical leadership and documentation to facilitate knowledge transfer and
onboarding.
• Proactively recommend and implement best practices to improve system stability and
maintainability.
• Engage in code reviews and mentor team members in understanding and working with
legacy codebases.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or
equivalent experience).
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in backend development using PHP/Laravel.
• Strong experience with REST API design and development using Open API
specifications.
• Proven expertise in Test-Driven Development (TDD), with a focus on writing clean,
testable, and maintainable code.
• Experience designing database schemas, and data models, and writing complex queries for
relational databases such as MySQL.
• Experience with AWS, Serverless, and Docker is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to provide robust solutions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
• Experience with Git version control (We use Gitlab).
• Strong understanding of software development principles such as object-oriented
programming, design patterns, and software testing.
