Head Of Supply Chain Management

The Head of Supply Chain will lead and coordinate the supply chain, sourcing, and logistics functions across India to ensure all demand requirements for exports, local customers, and inter-company sites are met. The role focuses on enhancing service levels, optimizing costs, and driving continuous improvements across the supply chain. The position will manage a team of three direct reportees overseeing Procurement, Import/Export, and Warehousing & Logistics.

Role & responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and execute a robust supply chain strategy aligned with organizational goals.
• Provide leadership for cross-functional teams, ensuring synergy and alignment with business objectives.

Procurement Management

• Oversee the Head of Procurement, managing buying operations for raw materials, Capex, spares, services, and finished goods.
• Ensure strategic sourcing initiatives deliver year-on-year commercial savings.
• Strengthen supplier relationships through audits, vendor management, and lead-time reduction programs.

Logistics and Exports

• Supervise the Lead Import & Exports, ensuring compliance with local and international trade regulations.
• Optimize freight costs, focusing on airfreight reduction, and manage carrier performance.
• Ensure first-class customer support for domestic, export, and inter-company shipments.

Warehousing and Distribution

• Oversee the Head of Warehousing, Logistics, and Order Management, ensuring efficient operations.
• Improve inventory turns, reduce transportation costs, and optimize warehouse utilization.

Demand and Capacity Planning

• Drive forecasting and capacity planning (labor and materials) for Indian operations.
• Ensure production plans align with service, inventory, and vendor OTD goals.

System Optimization and Compliance

• Enhance SAP and other system utilization to improve planning, replenishment, and reporting.

Ensure compliance with all local and international legal and regulatory requirements

Manage a team of three direct reports:

1. Head of Procurement Responsible for buying, sourcing, and demand planning.

2. Lead Import & Exports Focused on compliance, trade regulations, and export management.

3. Head of Warehousing, Logistics, and Order Management Handling logistics, inventory, and order fulfillment.

• Provide leadership to a broader team of 12-15 engineers and managers.
• Continuously develop team capabilities through training and mentorship.

Qualification & Experience

• Bachelors degree in Engineering (BE/B-Tech in any discipline).
• A professional management degree (MBA or equivalent) is desirable.
• Minimum of 18+ years of experience, with 15 years in supply chain management roles.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation abilities.
• Proficiency in SAP R3/Business Warehouse and MS Office.
• Expertise in logistics, procurement, and inventory management.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ethical, result-oriented, and culturally sensitive.
