Job description (JD) for the position of SCM Head for an edible oil company:

Position Title:- Head of Supply Chain Management (SCM)

Location:- MUMBAI , Travel to Oil Plants in Maharashtra

Reports To:- CEO

Department :- Supply Chain Management

Working days - Monday to Saturday (2nd and 4th - Non working day)

Position Overview:-

We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to head the Supply Chain Management (SCM) function for our edible oil company. The SCM Head will be responsible for managing and optimizing the entire supply chain, including inbound logistics, outbound logistics, warehouse operations, and inventory management. This is a senior leadership role with a focus on driving efficiency, cost reduction, and ensuring seamless operations across all supply chain functions.

Key Responsibilities:-

1. Strategic Supply Chain Planning & Optimization:-

- Develop and execute a comprehensive supply chain strategy aligned with company objectives.

- Oversee the entire supply chain process, optimizing for cost, quality, and speed.

- Manage and improve demand forecasting, inventory management, and production planning.

2. Fleet Management:-

- Manage a fleet of 150 trucks/tankers, ensuring efficient and safe transportation logistics to and from the factory location.

- Supervise inbound and outbound logistics to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation.

- Maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and third-party logistics providers.

3. Warehouse & Inventory Management:-

- Oversee inventory and warehouse operations with a capacity of at least 3000 MT.

- Optimize storage, manage stock levels, and ensure smooth operations within the warehouse.

- Implement best practices in inventory control, space utilization, and workflow processes.

4. Compliance & Safety:-

- Ensure that all logistics and warehouse operations comply with relevant safety, regulatory, and quality standards.

- Monitor and maintain high standards of safety and regulatory compliance in all operations.

5. Team Leadership & Development:-

- Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performance SCM team across all functions.

- Provide mentorship and coaching to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

6. Performance Monitoring & Reporting:-

- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the performance of all SCM functions.

- Provide regular reports to senior management, highlighting areas of success and opportunities for improvement.

- Use data-driven insights to optimize supply chain processes and improve cost efficiency.

Key Requirements:-

Educational Qualifications:-

- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree or certifications in Supply Chain or Logistics is a plus).

Experience:-

- 10+ years of experience in supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

- Proven experience in managing large-scale operations related to both truck/tanker movement and warehouse/inventory management.

- In-depth knowledge of logistics, inventory management, and warehouse operations.

Skills & Competencies:-

- Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.

- Excellent knowledge of supply chain operations, with a specific focus on transportation logistics and inventory management.

- Analytical skills to monitor performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.

- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

- Ability to think strategically while also managing day-to-day operations.
