Mechanical Engineer

Job Purpose: To provide mechanical engineering expertise for the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) on underground construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. TBM Design and Engineering:

   • Contribute to the design and engineering of TBM systems, including cutterheads, grippers, thrust blocks, and hydraulic systems.
   • Conduct technical evaluations of TBM proposals from various manufacturers.
   • Develop detailed engineering drawings and specifications for TBM components.

2. TBM Assembly and Commissioning:

   • Oversee the assembly and commissioning of the TBM, ensuring adherence to manufacturers guidelines and project specifications.
   • Coordinate with the electrical and control systems teams to ensure seamless integration of TBM components.

3. TBM Maintenance and Repair:

   • Develop and implement a comprehensive TBM maintenance plan.
   • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement corrective actions.
   • Monitor the performance of TBM components and identify potential problems.

4. TBM Operations:

   • Provide technical support to the TBM operations team.
   • Analyze TBM performance data to identify areas for improvement.
   • Optimize TBM performance through modifications and upgrades.

5. Safety and Quality:

   • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
   • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
   • Monitor quality control procedures to ensure the TBM operates efficiently and reliably.

6. Documentation and Reporting:

   • Maintain accurate records of TBM operations, maintenance activities, and performance data.
   • Prepare technical reports and presentations.
