AM-Strategic Sourcing (Should Costing)

Job purpose :

To collect and analyze information and data to estimate costs associated with sourcing a product or component, if efficient manufacturing and distribution practices are followed. A robust estimate will need to account for several factors including labor rates, materials, overhead, and profit margin.

Strong technical mindset and able to read and interpret technical data and translate to others.
Highly numerate with the ability to research, assemble manage and manipulate numerical information.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and accuracy skills
Good knowledge of machine hour rates for different machine makes
Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly process sequence and select the most cost effective method.

Main Accountabilities and Tasks :

Compile speciications and relevant documents and engage with stakeholders to translate specifications into cost estimats for New and Current products.
Establish cost estimates of production processes, tooling costs and review alternatives.
Investigate and identify cost reduction opportunities through cost analysis review.
Suggest and help vendors understand the alternative manufacturing processes.
Analyse the cost break up from vendor and perform detailed gap analysis between Zero Base Costing and quote.
Determine cost estimate targets during the design and development process, recommending cost effective solutions.
Prepare cost standards and reports at regular intervals to share with others in the business.
Benchmark costing methods, rules, standards with competition, industry.

Job scope :
Geographic: Global
Key internal / external stakeholders: Global Sourcing team, suppliers, supplier quality, project managers, freight forwarders.

Desired experience and qualifications :

Work experience: 5-Years minimum in Cost Engineering, Cost Estimating.
Education: Bachelor s degree in engineering (Mechanical/ automotive/ industrial preferred)
Languages: English, Hindi.
Soft skills: Proficient in Microsoft applications: Excel, Powerpoint.
Technical Skills: Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes - Casting, Forging, Stamping, Machining, Electroplating, Powder Coating, Assembly operations.
