Team name: Merchandise Supply Chain
Merchandise Supply Chain provides capability of IT product development for Sourcing, Merchandizing, and Inventory functions of the Kmart Groups Retail business. The team generates insights that enables business teams to make critical decisions.
The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the optimal performance, scalability, and reliability of the OMFP platform along with its integration layer. The Performance Engineer will be responsible for identifying and mitigating potential performance bottlenecks, ensuring that the system can handle anticipated workloads, and working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver a seamless and efficient system that meets both business and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Performance Testing Optimization: Design, develop, and execute performance, scalability, and stress tests
System Monitoring Analysis : Use performance monitoring tools to assess system throughput, latency, and response times across different layers, identifying bottlenecks and areas for optimization.
Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams : Work closely with development, architecture, QA, product management, and vendor teams to define performance requirements and ensure that all systems are aligned to deliver business needs.
Integration Layer Performance : Focus on optimizing the integration layer to ensure seamless data flow between the systems, with minimal latency and optimal reliability.
Vendor Management : Liaise with vendors to ensure performance metrics are met and that any issues related to their systems are resolved in a timely manner.
Automation of Performance Testing: Develop and maintain automated performance test scripts using industry-standard tools like JMeter
Root Cause Analysis: Perform detailed root cause analysis of any performance-related issues and work with teams to implement solutions.
Documentation Reporting : Maintain comprehensive documentation of performance test results, system analysis, and recommendations for optimization. Regularly report on system performance metrics and provide actionable insights.
Technical Skills Required:
Performance Testing Tools: Proficiency with tools such as JMeter, K6 or equivalent.
Monitoring APM Tools: Experience with tools like Dynatrace, New Relic or like to monitor and analyse system performance.
Integration APIs: Strong understanding of integration technologies such as REST APIs, web services, and middleware.
Cloud Infrastructure: Familiarity with cloud-based environments like AWS or Google Cloud for integration and infrastructure performance.
Automation Scripting: Experience in creating automated scripts for performance testing using CI/CD pipelines and version control tools like Git, Jenkins. Github actions knowledge will be an advantage.
Capacity Planning Scalability: Expertise in capacity planning, forecasting, and ensuring systems are scalable to handle peak loads.
Experience with OctoPerf will be an added advantage
