Purchase Executive

Job Summary:

The Purchase Executive in the piping industry is responsible for overseeing the procurement of materials, products, and services related to piping, valves, fittings, and other related items. The individual will ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods while maintaining quality standards, supplier relationships, and compliance with company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Procurement of Materials:
• Identify and source materials such as pipes, fittings, valves, flanges, gaskets, and related piping products.
• Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure the best pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
• Prepare and process purchase orders for piping materials and equipment.
• Supplier Management:
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring smooth communication and timely delivery of materials.
• Assess and evaluate potential suppliers, ensuring they meet quality standards, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Inventory Management:
• Monitor stock levels and identify material requirements based on project timelines or production schedules.
• Maintain an organized system for tracking purchase orders, inventory, and deliveries to avoid delays and stock-outs.
• Cost Control:
• Ensure that purchasing activities align with the companys budget and cost-saving objectives.
• Explore alternative suppliers and materials to reduce procurement costs while maintaining product quality.
• Compliance & Documentation:
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and industry standards in the procurement process.
• Maintain accurate records of all procurement transactions and contracts.
• Assist in the preparation of reports for management, tracking purchases, deliveries, and costs.
• Collaboration:
• Work closely with engineering, production, and project management teams to understand material specifications and delivery timelines.
• Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure smooth material transportation and delivery.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience: 2-4 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in the piping, construction, or manufacturing industry.
• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with piping materials (pipes, fittings, valves, etc.) and industry standards (e.g., ASME, ASTM).
• Negotiation Skills: Strong ability to negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure accuracy in order processing, documentation, and inventory management.
• Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word), and experience with procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to address and resolve supply chain issues, including delays, quality concerns, or vendor disputes.
