Cath Lab Technician

Job Description To assist in performing invasive and non-invasive diagnostic examinations and therapeutic interventions of the heart and/or blood vessels at the request or direction of provider.

Roles & Responsibilities• Ensure the availability of all necessary equipment, drugs & consumables. • Prepare all equipment and ensure that they are in good working order prior to every procedure. • Monitor the readouts and keep the doctor apprised of anything considered abnormal. • Receive and position a patient on an examination table and explain the procedure clearly. • Enter Patients details and chart the X-ray to see the Trachea for the selection of catheter and its size. • Operate the machine and equipment as per doctors order. • Maintain the stock for stunt, catheter etc. • Ensure proper handing over and taking over after and before every shift. • Prepare the films and send to the doctor; Issue one copy (CD) to the patient. • Monitor the patient’s condition, during and after procedure and document it. • Documented and recorded all digital images and clinical procedures performed in Cath Lab. • Assist cardiologist physicians with invasive cardiac cath lab procedures. • Developed and implemented basic skills exams in cardiac arrhythmias and cath lab pharmacology. • Prepared the Cardiac Cath Laboratory and set up equipment following specific protocols. • Developed a profound knowledge of cardiac cath lab procedures, and diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations. • Coordinated advanced modality rotations in cardiac cath lab and interventional radiology for radiologic science students.
