Vice President - ESDM

This position will lead the various constituents of the Electronics/Semiconductor Industry initiatives to help realise Karnataka's vision for the industry, emerging as the torch bearer for the ESDM industry in Karnataka. To identify future opportunities and create a strategic roadmap from an overall ESDM/Semiconductor industry perspective.

A. Role Responsibilities

• Investment Promotion:
• Drive efforts to achieve a 60 billion USD ESDM contribution to Karnataka's digital economy by 2031-32.
• Develop a robust pipeline of potential global and national ESDM/semiconductor investors for Karnataka.
• Engage and collaborate with decision-makers from the pipeline companies to facilitate their investments in Karnataka.
• Assist the department and investors to ensure a seamless setup process for new companies.
• Promote Beyond Bengaluru as a prime preferred location for setting up operations.
• Branding:
• Lead and support events and summits to enhance Karnataka's reputation as the preferred destination for ESDM/semiconductor investments.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including government entities, academia, industry members, consultants, and industry associations, to establish Centers of Excellence (COEs) in key areas.
• Prepare and publish analytical papers and reports on:
• The potential for ESDM/semiconductor industry growth in Karnataka.
• Global and national trends in the ESDM/semiconductor industry.
• And other topics as desired for ESDM.
• Support startups in the ESDM sector and collaborate with government-funded and privately run incubation centres and accelerators.
• Collaboration & Stakeholders Management:
• Create strong partnerships with IESA, NASSCOM, ASSOCHAM, ELCINA, ESSCI and related COEs.
• Partner with government, industry, academia, and the KDEM team to implement strategic actions and provide leadership for the growth of the ESDM/semiconductor industry.
• Consult with industry leaders to understand the challenges and requirements for establishing operations in Karnataka and liaise with the department to facilitate necessary discussions and changes.
• Work with the Karnataka government to ensure the successful operation of two Electronics Manufacturing Clusters.
• Coordinate with Industry Council Members and manage the ESDM Task Force for consultations and initiatives.
• Research & Policy:
• Policy outreach to inform the Industry of the policies and their benefits for expansion and new investments.
• Review global and national ESDM policies to compile best practices.
• Conduct annual reviews of Karnatakas ESDM policies with the ESDM Task Force and recommend updates to align with global and national standards.
• Communicate Karnatakas ESDM policy updates and highlights to potential and
• Build and maintain ESDM segment databases to track progress and growth.

B. Qualification, Experience & Other Skills

The candidate should have extensive experience in the ESDM industry, including Indian and multinational environments, and domestic and global industry connections to facilitate ecosystem growth.
