Medical Coder

We are looking to recruit a competent medical coder to assist us with coding medical documentation for insurance claims and for our databases. The medical coder will assign required Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS), International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM), and American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) codes. You will assign Ambulatory Payment Classifications (APC) or Diagnosis-related group (DRG) codes

Role & responsibilities

• Medical Coder Responsibilities Extracting relevant information from patient records.
• Liaising with physicians and other parties to clarify information.
• Examining documents for missing information. Assigning CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, and
• ASA codes. Assigning APC and DRG codes
• Assigning codes accurate to the documentation and based on the coding guidelines as applicable to the scope and specialty.
• Maintaining the productivity & accuracy standards Ability & willingness to learn new updates and guidelines
• Demonstrate the skills acquired through training during ramp up
• Maintain accuracy at 100% on day-to-day coding.
• Maintain productivity at 100% on day-to-day coding.
• Ensure codes are accurate and sequenced correctly in accordance with government and insurance regulations
• Must be updated with the coding guidelines
• Follow up with the provider on any documentation that is insufficient or unclear
• Communicate with other clinical staff regarding documentation
• Search for information in cases where the coding is complex or unusual
• Receive and review patient charts and documents for accuracy
• Ensure that all codes are current and active
• Responsible to maintain important logs and documentation regarding the details of the tasks performed
• Support an environment of accountability and management against goals
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues identified from day to day working of claims
• Accept full ownership and responsibility for special projects
• Coding Experience in Pain Management & Anesthesia is MUST for Office as well as Ambulatory Surgical Center place of service

Preferred candidate profile

• CPC or CCS is MUST
• Ambulatory Surgery Coding experience needed
• Healthcare RCM knowledge, preferred
• Analytical skills and good communication skills
• Ability to clearly articulate actions taken and next steps
• Should be willing to work in Night shift
• Excellent written and verbal English
• Ability to multitask
• Good computer skills including MS Excel, MS Word, Google Drive
