Infection Control Nurse

Role & responsibilities

1. To oversee and evaluate hospital infection control procedures with emphasis on prevention hospital acquired infection across the units of the kamineni Hospital, Hyderabad.
2. The Hospital Infection Control nurse shall take a round across the hospital looking for adherence to infection control protocols.
3. The Infection Control nurse also gets information about infective cases and sticks biohazard stickers on them so that the health care personals know that they are dealing with infectious cases.
4. If a case needs isolation she co-ordinates the shifting of the patient to the isolation ward with information to the treating consultant.
5. She monitors the infectious cases and takes suitable steps to isolate and see that the infections are contained.
6. Coordinates the investigation of outbreaks reported in the hospital.
7. She is responsible for maintaining the accidental exposure report and takes necessary follow up action as for proforma approved by the HICC.
