Key Responsibilities:
Expert Legal Knowledge:
- Extensive expertise in Civil, Criminal, Commercial, Consumer Disputes, Trademark, Copyright, and Labor Laws.
- Strong knowledge of Contract/Agreement drafting, ensuring compliance and legal accuracy.
- Proficiency in Legal Drafting with a focus on precision and clarity.
Case Law Research & Legal Analysis:
- Conduct comprehensive Case Law Research using legal databases such as Manupatra, SCC Online, DLT Online, LJ Soft, and other relevant resources.
- Analyze case law, statutes, and regulations to support litigation and legal advice.
Litigation Management:
- Oversee and monitor litigations under various laws and manage court proceedings, including drafting petitions, filings, and legal notices.
- Handle the legal aspects of disputes, representing the company's interests in court or with authorities.
- Liaise with external lawyers or law firms when necessary for specialized matters.
Legal Advisory to Management:
- Provide expert legal advice to the management on various business activities, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
- Assist the management in identifying legal risks and recommend proactive solutions.
- Advise on legal strategies related to corporate governance, business transactions, mergers, acquisitions, or other business activities.
Transactional & Documentation Support:
- Provide legal support for transactional work, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements.
- Assist other business functions (e.g., HR, Operations, Finance) in legal matters, ensuring smooth internal and external transactions.
Compliance Management & Risk Mitigation:
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks, proactively identifying legal risks in business operations.
- Develop strategies to manage and mitigate risks while ensuring legal compliance in all aspects of business activities.
Team Leadership & Execution:
- Lead and manage the legal team, providing guidance, direction, and mentoring to junior lawyers.
- Be a strategic thinker with the ability to plan and execute legal strategies aligned with business objectives.
Liaisoning with Authorities:
- Interact independently with Advocates, Government, and Police Authorities, handling legal matters in a timely and efficient manner.
- Represent the company in discussions with investigating authorities, ensuring that legal matters are addressed.
Skills & Experience Required:
Education:
- LLB / LLM from a recognized institution (Essential)
Work Experience:
- 14 - 20 years of experience in a reputed law firm or as an independent advocate.
- At least 4-5 years of working at the Advocate level in a reputed law/legal firm.
- Proven experience handling corporate legal matters, including civil, criminal, commercial, and labor law.
- Experience in Intellectual Property (IP) laws and contract drafting.
Key Competencies:
- Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to manage a team of lawyers.
- Excellent legal research, drafting, and analytical skills.
- High-level communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with clients, authorities, and management.
- Ability to assess and mitigate legal risks proactively.
- Ability to handle complex and high-stakes litigation with precision.
IT Competencies:
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal research software (e.g., Manupatra, SCC Online).
- Basic proficiency in legal management software and case management tools.
Personal Traits:
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and resolve legal challenges efficiently.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and authorities.
